I love to sew and create beautiful things that make people feel good!! You can tell the difference!
Hello! I've been selling on Etsy since it's early years - 2011. It's my retirement "job", though I think I work harder at it than any other job I've had. Ha! I started selling Infinity scarves during that crazy time when no retail stores had them for sale. I also make and sell many other items such as the fabric headbands, eyeglass cases, mini stockings, and more. I am constantly adding new. Then Covid. I am happy to not be sewing those masks anymore. It was during the covid time period that I wanted something fun for our family Christmas get together. I actually saw some cute, novelty Santa hats on Pinterest and adapted the idea for my family. Everyone loved them and thought they were unique and great fun! I worked hard to find really cool fabrics and perfected my technique to make these unique Santa hats. The Sherpa faux fur has to be just right so I can turn a flat circle of fabric into a ball! I am constantly on the lookout for new, fun fabric. I would like you to know I have continued to keep my prices very close to my pre covid price. Not because these Santa hats I make are "cheap" but because my conscious wouldn't let me up the price just because everyone else has. (some nearly double!) The main "cost" for me is my own labor in making these Santa hats by hand. They are pretty labor intensive, too, because I hand make all of it, the pom poms included. They match the brim exactly! Detail is important to me. And all those mini stockings you see, perfectly sized for gift cards? They use up every scrap of fabric left over from making the Santa hats. Nearly every bit of the Sherpa fur and fabric is used. No waste! I like that.
Everything in my Thimbledoodle shop is lovingly handmade by me. Sewing is "my thing". I still learn something new every day. I bring a lifetime of skill and expertise into the design and creation of each item I sell. You are sure to find all I make is of the best quality and attention to detail. Your gift recipient will tell the difference!
Most of these items are here because I use them myself. A super fun Santa hat, a colorful batik headband, a new accessory, like an easy-to-wear infinity scarf, ... I'm always adding something new.
I can add a special note or gift card anytime you want to send your gift directly. I will wrap in kraft tissue paper with twine Or for Christmas, I have a pretty red and gold tissue paper wrapped in a big gold organza bow. (Tissue travels well)

THIMBLEDOODLE=TIMBERDOODLE=AMERICAN WOODCOCK
Curious about the shop name?
The "Thimbledoodle" name came about, not from a sewing thimble or from artsy doodles, but as a nod to the little woodland bird on the farm. Timberdoodle is another name for the American Woodcock. Looking like a sand piper, it’s a shorebird that lives in the forests. It is so superbly camouflaged that you are very lucky to see one! They are often on our lane, probably looking for earthworms for which they probe deep into the soil with their long beaks. Sensing danger the little things will point their beak straight up – an excellent technique to hide in the brushy grasses, but very comical in the headlights of our truck! I feel very lucky, indeed, to live out in the country and be acquainted with this fascinating little bird!
