Genuinely, high school ruined reading for me. Forced to read “classics” that had no relevance to a teenager in 2003, on and on they went. After school I never wanted to pick up another book - I had no attention span to give to reading. I tried a couple of books but never got past a few chapters.
18 years later I was in Harry Harthog with my partner, the shop was so inviting and beautiful, the smell of fresh paper was seductive. So I wandered around while he dove headfirst into his idea of heaven. I picked up pretty covers and appealing titles but nothing was familiar, I felt lost in a world I didn’t know anything about. I found a shelf with “staff picks” and picked up “A Court Of Thorns And Roses’. I had no idea if I would like it, read it, if it was my genre, or what it was about and who by. “I’ll buy it for you, give it a go and maybe you will like it. And if you don’t, at least you know what you do and don’t like in a book” he said.
I was hooked. I devoured the entire series in months, then Crescent City and Throne Of Glass within another few months. Then feeling lost and still knowing nothing about my new found genre, I found some reading Facebook groups and started to build my collection from there. Almost two years later and I have found so many wonderful stories. The decision to create this range of products came from the inspiration these books gives me, and the desire to wear my favourite characters and places in my everyday life in a fashionable way. It’s only early days - discovering my style, books I love and new items to make for you - but I’m working on this every day to bring something for every fantasy lover that they will love and cherish.
