Fabric! Polyfil! Yarn! Dolls! Cloths! Create!
There is just something about sewing and creating a little person. Yes, I consider the cloth dolls I create little people. It’s the creativity, fabric combinations, the time, and feelings that go into each item that gives it a personality. From the Cloth Dolls I make to the outfits, or baby bibs. I also enjoy teaching sewing to local children, teen and adults.
I have been sewing for a long time now. I never out grew dolls from childhood. I advanced from playing with dolls to collecting dolls. I used to work in our neighborhood Library as a Page. There was this little doll shop that opened not far from the library. And that was where my little earnings went. I was a teenager that secretly had a doll on layaway. LOL
My mother was a seamstress and made a lot of my sister’s and I cloths and dolls. I still have the doll she made me, one of my favorites. I have her gift of sewing.
The dolls I create are my Original Designs and some from patterns. The Gabby Girl Dolls and Sally Sue Dolls are my original designs. The Gabby Girl Dolls have been around for about 10 years. They have improved through the years. They are made out of 2 different types of fabric. The face is stretch knit and the body is cotton. They have plastic pellet bottoms so when you hold them they sit in your arms just right. The Stretch knit fabric allows me to soft sculptor there simple faces. They have Signature Big Ears. This doll is very professionally made and comes with a certificate and is labeled. The Sally Sue Doll was created via a customer request for a doll more for children. Even though I create my own designs of dolls, I’m a doll lover at heart. So when I see another doll artist with an adorable doll, I still support with a purchase a pattern. Of course, I give credit where credit is due.
The cloths line and baby bibs, I started making about 2 years ago. My sister Ronni, suggested I started making children’s cloths to go with the dolls, because she loved my fabric selections. So another door opened.
