Announcement   Handmade Paper Art, Christian Art and introducing Alcohol Ink Art ~ Welcome to my art shop ~ art made with love! If there is something you like here, I can create a new piece for your home in the style of a pre-existing work. Let your vision come to life with a gift of love for that special one. Add their name, a message or your color choice. Let your heart and mind be open to find something that whispers a special message to you. Each piece is an original, OOAK.

Something lost is found again! Papermaking is a labor intensive process but one with great rewards. I love recycling paper and other organic material and transforming it into art. Each piece starts its' life as wet pulp. I upcycle (tear up colored paper), whiz it up in the blender with water to make a slurry. This goes into a vat. I dip my screen into the slurry and turn it out onto a surface with decorative objects. When the pulp dries it is 'cast' with designs. Fibers, metallics and ephemera mixed in with the pulp become embedded into the dried paper. It is a delightful and messy process which has taken over my small kitchen. It is a forgiving medium with happy 'accidents.'

I have a passion for all that is unique and hand-made. I create one-of-a-kind pieces exploring themes such as faith and antiquity, utilizing embossing, embedding and casting techniques. Hand-spun art fibers add a rich textural component to some pieces.

Introducing Alcohol Inks ~ they come in vibrant colors and are a new medium for painting. Ink is hard to control however the effects are captivating and spirited and colors are vibrant and full of life.

I happily accept commissions and will work with you to accommodate your spatial and color needs.

Thanks so much for your visit!

My sincere desire is to inspire and uplift others.

About

Let's explore papermaking!

My design sensibility embraces both the old and the new. I am drawn to exploring themes of antiquity including biblical symbolism, through the medium of papermaking. The character of antiquity is created both by the rich textural properties of the paper combined with symbols of the past. That being said, my background in interior design can lend a contemporary asthetic, brought about by current color choices and graphic elements.

The recurring theme that appears in my art is transformation. Even the paper I make goes through the process of being destroyed in its original plant form, only to be transformed into a work of art.

Inspiration is drawn from many sources including nature, ancient times, instrumental music, as well as contemporary design. I Love listening to spirit-filled instrumental music. At times, I will see visions which impact the content of my work. The transcendent aspect of nature has a strong impact on me. Much time is spent contemplating God’s glory and majesty in nature which provides insight and inspiration.

Alcohol inks in vibrant colors are a new medium for painting. Ink is hard to control however the effects are captivating and spirited and colors are vibrant and full of life.
