tinyExpanse - Small reminders of nature's vastness.
Some people go for a walk everyday, others sit and meditate, for some it is a cup of coffee. Most of us have some routine in our daily lives that creates some small sense of stability and familiarity in this ever-changing life.
During a particularly transitional period in my life, I realized that I needed a daily practice that gave me this sense of continuity and routine. I wanted to make sure I both appreciated the beauty around me and painted every day. From these intentions tinyExpanse was born. Over the years I have created over 4000 daily landscapes - sometimes sticking to creating a painting each day, sometimes taking a break to recharge, but always coming back to these little works. Creating a painting each day, no matter how big or small, brings me happiness and contentment.
Over the years my paintings have gotten larger, and I love the contrast between in a wide range of scale. Regardless of the phase I'm in - different subjects, sizes, mediums - painting keeps me inspired to explore and appreciate the world. Painting has also inspired me to become a conservationists - I regularly collaborate with conservation groups to support their efforts in protecting the beautiful places I am lucky to paint.
I hope my work inspires those who live with it to enjoy, value, and protect places they love as well.
