An Artist's journey from the West Coast to the Midwest
I'm an origami artist, independent national travel and lifestyle blogger , a certified bone marrow registration advocate, former couture bridal accessory designer, and most recently former website designer and developer. 2014 was a year of change and transition. It began living out of my 4'x6' tiny travel trailer in Northern CA for six months and concluded in the beautiful state of Michigan.
Folding sets of 1000 miniature origami paper cranes was a 20 year hidden hobby until I learned of and was invited to compete in ArtPrize (an international open art competition held each fall in Grand Rapids, MI). I relocated to Greenville, MI in July 2014 to assemble and complete my entry of 4000 tiny origami cranes depicting the four seasons. Here in the countryside among the apple orchards, corn fields, and woodlands I've found the place where I feel I was meant to be. I competed again in ArtPrize in 2015 featuring another entry of 5000 tiny cranes and in 2016 with 1000 cranes, 1000 rabbits, and 1000 tiny origami frogs that all shared cultural customs, traditions, and stories of Japan.
I will be launching a new small business pursuing origami art as my full-time career in 2016 and beyond.
If you make a purchase from my Tinygami shop thank you for supporting my small business.
Wishing you peace always,
Stacie Tamaki
