Challenging myself
Hi and welcome,
I was born and raised in a small village in Belgium. My parents and grandparents were fruitfarmers. My grandmother also sewed a lot of different things, she tought me to make small treasures with simple things that were just around us. Sewing a pincustion from an old shirt, decorating with beautiful old buttons. Making small animals in all types of fabric.
This inspired me to follow a classical tailoring course.
But the moment I graduated, it did not interest me no more, I went to the Academy of fine art and studied printmaking.
I work about 10 year as a full time artist now, and had the opportunity to exhibit all over the world. After a gap of 18 years, I found the taste again to design and make things on my sewingmachine.
I searched a while for the perfect bag, but could not find any that fitted what I was looking for; So I decided to design and make one for myself. I got so many nice compliments and requests from friends and family. I started to make some for other people.
One day I opened this shop, but with a vision, I wanted to make bags that would last for a long time, and even get better by use. I looked for special fabrics like antique linen, and waxed canvas, these already had proven them self to be great survivors in time, and get more beautiful with age. I'm still learning every day, and keep challenging myself to make better designs then the one before.
