Quality, excellence, and elegance in handmade books.

Bookbinding has been my passion since around 2003 when I was searching for a method to bind my mixed media collage art into a single book. I enjoyed the process so much I couldn't stop making books and my shelves were overflowing! By sharing my work with others through Etsy I have found an excuse to continue making books.

I got started on Etsy thanks to my husband, who saw a magazine article about Etsy and encouraged me to open a shop. I thought that was crazy and no one would want to buy my books, but with his encouragement I did it anyway.

In 2007, I opened my first shop, UberArt, specializing in art journals. My first listing sold within 24 hours and I've been at it ever since! I opened my guest book shop, Emerson Bindery, in 2009 and have been privileged to provide over 5000 guest books to make my customers' events even more special.

Not only do I work to provide an excellent product, but for me it's also about the customer's experience. I take special care in the details, right down to the packaging.

My work has been published by Lark Books in "Making Mini Books: Big Ideas for 30+ Little Projects".

I also had the pleasure of working with Grammy award winning rock band, The Fray, to create a backstage guest book for their 2009 summer tour. You can view my portfolio at http://www.flickr.com/photos/uberart/

I donate a portion of my shop's income to Hope for the Warriors which provides programs for service members, veterans, and military families. I also support Reach Recovery, an organization which helps adults battling drug & alcohol dependencies.

I love making books and learning new bookbinding techniques. When I have time I enjoy art journaling and trying out my book designs firsthand.

My job is to approve all incoming shipments of supplies. UPS and the mail carrier must first pet me before making deliveries. In my downtime, I enjoy lying in patches of warm sunshine in the floor of the studio while my mom makes books.

  • My hubby

My husband has been a great support, encourager, and visionary. My shop would not be open without him!

I will ship your order promptly upon receipt of payment for "Ready to Ship" listings, usually within 24-48 hours in most cases unless there is a holiday, or if you have selected customization options. If there are any extenuating circumstances preventing me from shipping promptly I will contact you.

Refunds and Exchanges
I strive to give accurate descriptions and representations of my items because I want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. However, if you are not happy with your purchase, please contact me within 14 days of receipt of merchandise to discuss options for refund, exchange or replacement.

Custom orders and books with name plates or monograms are not returnable since they have been designed specifically to your tastes, but I will be happy to work with you to resolve any problems with your order.

The item must be returned within 14 days using insured shipping and in resalable condition. Your original purchase price, less shipping, will be refunded when I receive the returned item in good condition. If there is damage due to insufficient packing I may not be able to refund the full price. The return shipping costs will not be refunded.

1. When returning an item, please use an insured and trackable method of shipment such as UPS, FedEx, or USPS Priority Mail.
2. Enclose the book in a plastic bag (provided with your book purchase or similar bag) to protect it from moisture.
3. Wrap the bagged book in bubble wrap or corrugated wrap to protect it from bumps and dings in transit.

If your item is damaged or lost in shipping, please contact me immediately. I will start the claims process (if applicable) and send you information to finish the process to receive your refund or replacement. I pack your items very carefully but occasionally shipping carriers have been known to lose or utterly destroy packages.
Additional policies and FAQs
Please provide a valid email address which you regularly check. I will only use it to communicate details about your order, and a response from you may be needed (proof approval or timeline questions). I do not send out newsletters and never share or sell customer information.

Please allow enough time for me to make your book and ship it. My average production time is about 2 weeks plus transit time, but at times when my workload is heavy the production time may be longer. I always send a confirmation email to let you know my current turn around time. If the time frame is not acceptable to you, please let me know and I'll be happy to discuss expedited options or cancel your order and refund your money.

There is an additional fee for custom orders. This covers the time it takes me to research different options to offer you, correspond back and forth, design your book, and photograph the finished project for your approval prior to shipping.

The majority of my custom order customers opt to pay for the entire order up front, but you are welcome to request to pay a 50% deposit up front and the balance due upon notification of completion. Custom orders and deposits are not refundable.

I am not available for consignment or wholesale work.
