I live in rural NW Louisiana, where I grew up and have spent most of my life. We don't really have a farm, but we do run a few head of cattle and keep enough chickens to supply our family with fresh eggs. And of course, my favorite four-legged friend, my horse, Tiny.
For years I had a little quilting and fabric shop where local folks could take a class or quick pick up unique gifts, forgotten notions or buy some pretty yardage to make their own. I also 'took my show on the road' as a vendor at several craft show/art fairs near home and even in adjacent states.
Right now Daddy needs me at home as his primary caregiver, so my husband, JR and I moved my shop into the family home nearby. I no longer have retail hours, but I still manage to find time to sew.
Since suspending my activity on the craft show/fair circuit I read industry blogs and newsletters to keep me updated, and I shop a lot on Etsy. Etsy sellers are the best! And I don't just say that because I am one. Through Etsy I can shop the whole world and still be right here when Daddy needs his medications. I have purchased many great gift items and numerous supplies from Etsy sellers and have never been disappointed.
