L Squared Handcrafted Geekery - How I found my Inner Geek
L Squared Handcrafted Geekery started out with me and my closest friend getting together to make a little money, and has morphed into my little shop of geekery. I have been talking about starting my own business making buttons for over ten years and I finally started it in (2014). I took a little break in 2018 when my professional life took off and I got insanely busy with work, but I'm bringing back the shop in a smaller way in 2019.
The urge to create has always been a part of my life, and I love to share my creations with others. When I was younger I painted and wrote poetry, and then I started making buttons after high school. My business started slowly – selling buttons on the main walkway at UC Berkeley and to local school organizations while at college, and making them for some friend’s weddings. After graduating school in 2008, I moved to Sacramento, got married and became an accountant, but I still love to create.
I think one of my favorite parts of doing this business is seeing how happy my creations make others. When someone finds that unique button that is so geeky it hurts but just expresses everything they ever wanted, or making someone a custom button with their kid’s pictures on it – that brings me so much joy. So does spending hours on a painting and have it wind up on someone’s wall at home – to forever be a part of their day to day lives. How cool is that?
Anyways… that’s me. I am always creating and making new things, and I pour my heart and soul into my pieces, which I hope shows through in my quality, artistry, and enthusiasm for my products. I put a lot of love and attention into each individual item, piece, or design.
