Welcome to my Etsy studio gallery. I'm happy to share my buyer reviews. Here's some of what people who have collected my work have said about it- http://www.etsy.com/people/wickstromstudio/feedback

My landscape paintings reflect my life in New York City and in the Berkshires. I enjoy painting a range of subject matter, from simple field and sky compositions to intricate industrial cityscapes. The real interest for me is always the color and the light, which is constantly changing. New York has its own special color palette. Painting outdoors and from life is an endless challenge and joy.

Working from the human figure is also a passion. Lately I've been playing with compositions of artists working from the model and studio compositions. Please note that the oil figure sketches are often on small unmounted pieces of linen, These can be professionally mounted and framed, or simply displayed in a mat.

When making an order, please read my shop policies. As is standard with fine art sales, the artist retains reproduction rights.

Perfectly captured moment. I can credit Thor for my new found interest in cityscapes. Will undoubtedly be making more purchases in the future. Thanks so much!

About

My Etsy Experiment

I wanted to show some of my small figure pieces, and had heard that Etsy was a good platform. After a few months, it became apparent that this would be more than just a side income- people were really interested in collecting my paintings.

Now, after 7 years, my Etsy shop is the main way I show and sell my paintings. And am able to sell them for much less than through a gallery. In fact, many galleries buy my work through Etsy and then resell them.

I'm very happy with doing things this way. I enjoy being my own boss and sending my work all over the world.

A short bio: I've been drawing and painting since I was a kid. Out of high school, I went to Chicago and soon after New York City to study with exhibiting artists at theArt Students League of New York; Robert Philipp, Julien Levy, Dan Greene, David Leffel and Ted Seth Jacobs. Later, while living in Paris, I copied at the Louvre to learn from the masters, and followed anatomy courses at the Ecole Des Beaux Arts. Over the years I've done a lot of picture book illustration- about 30 picture books- and continue to do regular work for Cricket media and ASK magazine. I live in New York and the Berkshires with my wife and youngest daughter.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work, and please don't hesitate to contact me with questions.

About me... I live in New York City and the Berkshires of Massachusetts, where I paint landscapes, still life, figure and portrait work. I've been painting in oils for over 35 years, but the excitement of blocking in a new canvas is always a thrill.
