Lucinda is every bit as wonderful as the things she makes from those hands! I cannot stop looking at and taking in the magnificent attention to detail. It just doesn't stop. Felted bottom to protect surfaces, beautifully wrapped-==the entire experience is magical. Thank you!

About

THE LITTLE BUSINESS THAT COULD

Walking in the woods one day, I came upon a small , dead, hollow tree laying on the ground. It had a natural opening where a limb had been that looked like a door to me, a gnome door. The wheels in my head were turning. I took the log home and felt that without too much work, I could turn this into a cute rustic house. I had already started making birdhouses out of barnwood and was embellishing them with twisty twigs and moss. I added some steps under the door and a chimney to the old shakes I made the roof out of. This was my first home in the style that was to become the signature look for my new business, Lucinda & Co. It was 1989. Finding hollow logs however was not so easy. I had to figure out how to hollow them out myself, which I eventually did after a lot of trial and error and cut up firewood. I continued to add the twisty and magical looking limbs I found in the woods to the houses as roof supports and door awnings, the houses themselves were now round and not square. Lucinda & Co was off and running! --- it became a true little Cottage Industry, and turned into "Willodel" on Etsy.
Lucinda & Co. primarily sold functional songbird houses , garden Toad homes and whimsical Gnome and Fairy houses, all reflecting my original design style and made from materials I found in the mountains where I lived. Excellence in craftsmanship, unique and original design and artistic beauty were signature qualities to the work and what people most often commented on and appreciated.
I had the privilege of seeing the many smiling faces as they approached my displays and felt the gratitude of being able to make this many people happy with my creations.
With time, I decided to make the grand leap , to leave my regular job and just try to support myself on my art and woodworking. I decided to try to do an online shop. "Willodel" on Etsy was born! There was a lot to be learned, but a lot to be gained! As we all know here, the making of things is only a small part of it it all.
Every day I am grateful for Etsy and the opportunity it has brought. It has allowed me to do everything I have wanted to do in making and selling my art and also set the stage for meeting the most wonderful people.
Thank you All!

Returns and exchanges
If there is a need to return an item, please contact the shop. The goal here is to please the customer! All problems will be gladly resolved.
Payment
PayPal is the preferred way to pay as it protects both buyer and seller.
If there is a need for an alternative, please contact me.
It is also possible to arrange a LayAway, by making two to three payments through PayPal.
Shipping
Shipping is done through the USPS. In most cases orders are sent Parcel Post, though if listed shipping costs cover Priority, the order is upgraded. If the listed shipping costs exceed actual costs, a refund is made. All packages are insured.
If you are interested in foreign shipping, I am glad to ship abroad and will quickly give you a price quote if you contact me. Generally what is affordable are packages that are under albs. as they can be shipped internationally by Parcel Post Select. If they are over 4 lbs. the price more than doubles. In this light, the smaller wood house and felt houses are more reasonable to ship.
Additional policies and FAQs
The Willodel shop is very conscientious about the environment and materials used to make our products. All materials are as natural and non-toxic to the best of our knowledge and efforts. All products are made with integrity and made well. Some have delicate parts that younger children could break if played with too roughly or carelessly. I usually state that the products are meant to be played with in a gentle and respectful way, another way of suggesting those playing with them are age appropriate. Also I ask for adults and older children to always be mindful of the choking hazard of small parts such as little tables and chairs or seed pods that are loose. I have had occasional stories of the family dog chewing on something... dear souls that they are, and am willing to work with you on a repair if it seems possible.
Thank you to all for loving support and the inspiration it brings me.
