🌺From Upcycled Roots to Zen-Inspired Art
I joined the Etsy community in 2007, just two years after its launch. My first shop: etsy.com/shop/miabaggali (it's still there!), showcased the upcycled art wear I loved creating. Think sling bags from vintage embroidered jeans, flowing gypsy frocks, Stevie Nicks-inspired festival pieces, Nuno shawls, legwarmers, and fingerless gloves made from decadent cashmere sweaters,

After a decade in that boho-hippie-retro Baby Boomer head, I needed a new creative direction. This led me to Pojagi, an ancient Korean sewing technique originally used for gift-wrapping cloths. Pojagi Patchwork is fabric art that tells a richer, more layered story, infused with symbolism and beauty. I merged its geometric structure with vibrant batiks to create "stained glass" fabric art that moved on a breeze and so elegantly captured the shifting sunlight, creating a calming, meditative atmosphere.

🌺The Evolution to Japandi.
Inspired by the clean lines of artists like Frank Lloyd Wright and Piet Mondrian, my work evolved from colorful, organic art to sophisticated home decor. As home decor trends shifted, I packed up the colorful batiks and embraced a minimalist mindset: Japandi, where Japanese meets Scandinavian. This translates to a simplistic aesthetic with earthy tones like beige, taupe, and soft greys. Very Zen, very pure and calming.
