Yardwork

Ho iniziato il mio negozio con l'idea di vendere i miei piccoli campioni di tessuto stampato e tinto a mano. Ho appoggiato la maggior parte dei campioni in carta in modo che potessero essere usati come stoffa per libri. È stato un processo molto elaborato che ho presto deciso che non poteva far parte di un business plan pratico! Dopo un bel po 'di ricerca dell'anima, ho deciso che il mio vero amore e la mia forza erano progettare i singoli motivi e vedere come funzionavano in schemi ripetuti.

Ho creato "Yardwork Clear Decor Stamps" in modo che altri potessero godere dell'esperienza piuttosto zen della stampa a mano "cantieri e cantieri di opere d'arte". Ora ho diciotto set di set di francobolli per la produzione di modelli che possono essere acquistati solo qui a Yardwork.etsy.com.

Amo l'estetica umile dell'impronta a mano: le piccole imperfezioni e variazioni. Quando faccio acquisti nei negozi di tessuti, trovo che questa estetica manchi! Per questo motivo, ora importo anche tessuti stampati a mano da un piccolo villaggio in India in modo da poter sostenere il loro mestiere e sostentamento condividendo la mia sensibilità progettuale.

Lavoro dalla mia casa di Brooklyn, NY, dove io e il mio cane Frankie amiamo camminare per le strade alberate del nostro quartiere. Frankie non aiuta molto con il mio negozio, si assicura solo che mi prenda una pausa di tanto in tanto!

Mia figlia, Emili, vive nelle vicinanze ed è la mia critica più dura! Mi piace pensare a lei come al mio reparto di controllo qualità. Si ferma spesso per vedere cosa sta succedendo a Yardwork.

I started my shop with the idea of selling my own small swatches of hand printed and dyed fabric. I backed most of the swatches in paper so they could be used as book cloth. It was a very elaborate process which I soon decided could not be a part of a practical business plan! After quite a bit of soul searching, I decided my true love and strength was designing the individual motifs and seeing how they worked in repeating patterns.

I created "Yardwork Clear Decor Stamps" so that others could enjoy the rather zen-like experience of hand printing "yards and yards of artwork". I now have eighteen sets of pattern-producing stamps sets that can only be purchased right here at Yardwork.etsy.com.

I love the humble aesthetic of the hand-print: the small imperfections and variations. When I shop in fabric stores, I find this aesthetic to be missing! Because of this, I now also import hand-printed fabric from a small village in India so that I can support their craft and livelihood while sharing my own design sensibilities.

I work from my home in Brooklyn, NY where my dog Frankie and I love to walk the tree-lined streets in our neighborhood. Frankie doesn't help much with my shop, she just makes sure I take a break now and then!

My daughter, Emili, lives close by and she is my toughest critic! I like to think of her as my quality control department. She stops by frequently to see what is happening at Yardwork.
