About

Sharing my love for hand-printed fabric!

I started my shop with the idea of selling my own small swatches of hand printed and dyed fabric. I backed most of the swatches in paper so they could be used as book cloth. It was a very elaborate process which I soon decided could not be a part of a practical business plan! After quite a bit of soul searching, I decided my true love and strength was designing the individual motifs and seeing how they worked in repeating patterns.

I created "Yardwork Clear Decor Stamps" so that others could enjoy the rather zen-like experience of hand printing "yards and yards of artwork". I now have eighteen sets of pattern-producing stamps sets that can only be purchased right here at Yardwork.etsy.com.

I love the humble aesthetic of the hand-print: the small imperfections and variations. When I shop in fabric stores, I find this aesthetic to be missing! I now import hand-printed fabric from a small village in India so that I can support their craft and livelihood while sharing my own design sensibilities.

I've added African Wax Prints to the mix, even though they are not hand printed, because I admire the outrageously bold images and colors. The prints are so very expressive that I consider them most definitely "yards and yards of artwork"! The Shweshwe fabric I carry has a very interesting history and is made using a unique process.

I work from my home in Brooklyn, NY where my dog Frankie and I love to walk the tree-lined streets in our neighborhood. Frankie doesn't help much with my shop, she just makes sure I take a break now and then!

My daughter, Emili, lives close by and she is my toughest critic! I like to think of her as my quality control department. She stops by frequently to see what is happening at Yardwork.

Manufacturers

I chose this manufacturer because they use a top quality photopolymer for clear stamps and are very friendly, efficient and responsive. I design all the stamps and the packaging, they make them materialize!

Payment
I accept PayPal, Etsy Gift Cards and direct check-out.

NY residents will be charged the appropriate sales tax.
Shipping
Items that are in stock will be shipped once funds clear. Currently, all listed items are in stock.

I ship USPS first class or priority mail (depending on weight and distance) and provide a tracking number on MOST shipments. USPS determines by size if the package gets a tracking number. If you would like expedited shipping, please let me know. Also, insurance can be purchased by request.
Refunds and Exchanges
I'm happy to accept returns if you contact me very soon (within a week) after you receive the shipment. You will need to pay for return shipping, but I will refund the whole cost of the item once I receive it.

Items MUST be in original condition. If it is a packaged item, such as the stamp sets and paint sets, the item(s) MUST be unopened! I will not refund opened and used items.

Any sort of custom order can not be returned. Unfortunately, I will have to consider cut yardage of fabric a custom order. Once yardage is cut, the value is limited since it can not be resold as a larger, continuous cut. However, pre-cut fabrics, such as fat quarter & patchwork bundles or " the last piece" may be returned.

Most importantly, you are not allowed to copy, mass produce, or sell the actual motifs to a commercial company for your own profit.

If you work for or own a commercial company and you are interested in my designs, please contact me! I have been a freelancer for textiles, greeting cards and rubber stamps most of my adult life. I'm very easy to work with!
