WE love doing ceramics
Archie and I have been doing crafts for 50 years. We started with wood working he cut and sand the pieces and I would tole paint them. We lived in a place here in Oregon that's called The Santiam Pass, where we had snow for 6 months out of the year so I would paint. We had a friend that cook at one for the summer resorts that did ceramic, and she took me to a ceramic show. She showed me how to clean and pour and then I show Archie how to do it, now he does most of the pouring and clean and firing for me I help him on my days off.
When we moved back to Salem, Oregon we started a shop where I teach painting and running the shop here in Salem, Oregon. We have 6000+ molds. We have been doing ceramic for 40 years and we love it because there so many more thing you can do with it then wood.
We started doing Raku, horsehair, naked raku, firing in 2014.
We have Raku potluck party on the weekends 2 or 3 times in the summers now.
O yes, we have been married for over 63 year's this and many more to come! We are a family shop; our son and Grandson like to pour and so Raku parties. They also like to paint and do glazing piece. Some of the piece that they do is out of this world, I have to say, not that one this time. I think they do it just to hear me say no. they like to be funny.
Thanks for reading about our story and have a very nice day.
