YIKES! - A lifetime of making things
My work process is very much like doing a small painting or collage. A bit of this, a spot of that. Some line here, more texture there… striving for that perfect combination.
I studied art, specifically painting in college and have always been deep into color and shape. My jewelry work in college used colored and shaped plastic components set into metal. After graduating art school I made jewelry from paper and paints. Next after a stint as a graphic designer I got way into polymer clay. In using the clay I learned a ton about color and texture. I sold my polymer jewelry for years and visited about a hundred different techniques for using the medium. After 9 years of polymer clay I started to feel like I wanted to get back to metal and a more "precious" or noble material. Hence my new love affair with enameling.
Enameling gives me a chance to stretch and grow my metal smithing skills and continue to work in color which is my first love. From time to time I incorporate polymer into my pieces or sometimes I just go crazy and dive right back in to polymer with gusto.
I create in my home studio in the woods in Maine. Its my favorite place to be in the whole wide world!!
