A3 print, printed on 380gm fine art paper wrapped with backing board.
A mysterious white stag painted on the rocks by Bamburgh.
There are many stories about why it’s there, all based on the escape of a white deer which jumped into the sea having run from a hunt in nearby Spindlestone, some say it was painted by Italian prisoners-of-war during World War Two.
This A3 giclee print inspired by the local legend is printed on heavyweight fine art paper.
This print is part of our School prints revisited project. Towards the end of the Second World War Brenda Rawnsley and her husband Derek set up the groundbreaking School Prints Ltd to supply original contemporary art to primary schools as way to inspire children after nearly a decade of war.
The lithograph printing was undertaken by Baynard Press working with artists to produce prints with no more than six colours and included work from Picasso, L. S. Lowry, John Nash and Matisse
We have commissioned a wonderful set of new prints by some of our favourite illustrators which we will be showing alongside some of the original school prints in winter 2022.
We will be adding to this new selection of School prints through 2023, with print donations made to schools across Northumberland.
