A fantastic, very large vintage Villedieu long handled copper pan, made around the mid-late 1900s, sourced from a vide maison in the Charente.

Villedieu-les-Poêles is a former commune in the Manche department of Normandy in north-western France, and is renowned for its manufacturing of quality copperware.

This quite rare, very large unlined, hammered pan with a slightly rounded, beautifully decorative base and a rolled top edge, is designed for fireside cooking.

It is in excellent, near perfect condition, freshly hand polished showing very little sign of wear beyond minor tarnishing. The long iron handle has a hook for hanging and is attached with four copper rivets. The pan is unlined, so need to be lined for cooking unless using sugar based recipes.

As is, this quality piece of French cookware would be perfect as decorative kitchen item.
