The birds in this painting were inspired when witnessing 3 fledgling swallows preparing to fly. During a research trip to Dumfries and Galloway engage with Neolithic symbolism and prehistoric sites in the area.

I built up the image in layers with designer gouache and with liquid latex as a mask, then removed it. The standing stone, Long Meg is viewed from how I think it may have been seen in 1500 BC. There is a lot of symbolism around the Swallows, Fireweed, the Stone, and much more to interpret in this image, but that will be in the book, I am creating.

High quality and carefully crafted and packaged!
