Our Story
I am the daughter of an artisan. My mother (fondly called Didaá), for whom my business was named, instilled in me my love and passion for handcrafted goods. I am a leather crafter; in love with the sweet smell of vegetable tanned leather, enamored by the ornate tools used to craft leather into functional designs, and captivated by a heritage that goes back centuries.
It’s with this in mind that I created Didaa HandCrafted- an upscale leather goods company that creates forward but classic and understated designs, utilizing old world techniques. Classic lines, traditional practices and contemporary designs are at the helm of our brand.
At Didaa Handcrafted, we do not seek perfection but the skill and art that comes from a handcrafted one of a kind art piece; most importantly, we take pride in knowing that no two customers will ever have the exact same piece.

In the words of our Eponym, Didaá, “What’s worth doing is worth doing well.” We carry those words into each item that is created for you. Our attention to detail and utilization of old world practices ensures durability and set us apart.
Hand stitching
We hand-stitch every piece using the saddle stitch- a technique born out of necessity but maintained due to its durability. The saddle stitch utilizes a single piece of thread and two blunt needles, a method that keeps our products together. If a saddle stitch breaks, the second thread will hold the other stitches in place. Unlike the machine stitch that unravels and requires re-sewing, the saddle stitch only requires mending in the area of damage.
Strength in the Details
We ensure that all stress points are secure by double stitching and/or hand peening brass rivets in the stress areas. We use thick high quality waxed thread which creates an even stronger bond with time and use; we believe that the extra labor costs are well worth the quality that we provide.
We take handmade to the next level and through to the presentation of your purchase. We believe that a well-made product should come in a well-presented package, so all our products come in a handmade leather drawstring velour bag, with a hand stamped logo on a piece of vegetable tanned leather. At Didaa Handcrafted, we stand by the saying, “God is in the details.”
Quality in our Materials
Our Leather
We use premium full grain leather- the highest quality leather money can buy, and source our leather from high end tanneries in Italy and the US so the durability of your piece is assured. We use ethically sourced secondary hides (a byproduct of the meat industry); primarily in the form of vegetable tanned leather, a highly durable leather that is tanned using natural tannins, from tree bark, resulting in goods that can last a lifetime with the right care.
All our bags are lined with lambskin and suede leather.
Our Hardware
SOLID BRASS AND COPPER RIVETS
We only use solid brass and copper rivets on our bags. These are 100% solid brass and copper and are attached by hand, one rivet at a time. Each one is hand hammered and peened to create an unbreakable bond. This process has been done for hundreds of years and has proven its long lasting durability.
YKK SOLID BRASS ZIPPERS
We use YKK solid brass zippers, probably the most well-known brand for its quality and durability to ensure that your purchase stands the test of time.
BUCKLES, D-RINGS, CLASPS, etc.
All of these items are also made with solid brass, even our nickel plated hardware is solid brass underneath. Most of our clasps are made with gold plated brass hardware.
We do all this to ensure that you never have to worry that your hardware will rust over time.
