I fell in love with Essential Oils in the early 90's, it sent me out to the garden to cultivate herbs, today I utilize both for natural relief.
I started out as an avid Essential Oil (EO) user, as a new Mom, I became more aware of what was in my environment. So I bought my first diffuser and zipped through countless brown bottles of 100% Pure EO. No virus was going to land on my surfaces, no cough was going to remain suspended in my air and it worked. I love them, and of course I purchased countless books on all the oils and their properties, I was hooked. I never flinched in applying EO neet on my skin, lavender was my go to fav, Eucalyptus my sinus savior, but, I knew that for larger application, such as an upset tummy I'd want a base oil. I know that people put peppermint on their tongue for relief, but my system rejected that idea. What did that leave me? Applying EO's to the skin surface to treat conditions that would afflict my health.
That's the start of my EarthSprungBody tale, plant based help from nature. The next step is obvious, I had to have my own herb garden and I do like to cook, so my aim was culinary herbs that were healthy for my family and myself. Every year I added something new, chives, garlic, basil, thyme, rosemary, lavender. I found my little spot on earth is a great place to grow herbs, good soil here, anyway, as I added I started putting in medicinal herbs, some were for repelling bugs others were basic mint and German Chamomile. Well, as you can guess, I started getting bumper crops of herbs, too much for just cooking. So, I bought big screens and started picking and drying, at this point it was still about tea and cooking. My skins answer was still bought at the local box store, I wasn't buying natural herbal products for my face. When such products started becoming more mainstream it certainly captured my interest. I bought some, but wasn't thrilled with the price when the product included ingredients I questioned.
With this said, it took the sight of yellow beeswax and Sweet Almond Oil on the Health Food Store shelf to perk my interest in creating my own recipes for skin-care, incorporating all the steps I've taken since 1995. Essential Oils>>>Herb Garden>>>Developing my own skin-care products "infusing" my love of the two. That was two years ago, I knew I had to learn the process and start requesting those around me to test my products. Lucky for me, I have a lot of volunteer tester's, surprise, surprise.....but that's not all, I have talked with so many people about their personal ailments, it's "what do you have for muscle pain", "what do you have for my knees" or "what do you have for stress/anxiety"??? It seemed a tall order in the beginning, but I pushed forward knowing that I had been using plant based relief for almost 20 years. It was during this time that I zeroed in on what works for me, and that is ointments, salves and herbal infused oils. One day I'll incorporate lotions, but I'm loving beeswax, raw honey, shea butter, virgin coconut and base oils right now. I would like to close with thanking my recipe testers, it was your belief in me and your feedback that kept me pursuing this sweet dream. Personally? I use all my products, they work and at 58 my skin has a more youthful glow, and on days that I want to push my body, ointment geared for muscle health and knee joints are put into use.
