Meet the artist - Jeanne Akita
Inspired by the mesmerizing beauty of nature’s shapes and textures, while influenced by the Russian classical arts and antique philosophy, in the small studio in the heart of Salt Lake Valley I create unique seamless and reversible wearable art by fusing my art vision with ancient felting technique.
Like 3D soft flexible fiber sculpture, each one-of-a-kind piece is meticulously created, using only hand agitation, water, soap, and hand-selected sustainable loose fibers such as the finest Merino wool, Tussah silk, Flax, as well as raw lamb’s fleece from the small Idaho farm. I love to pay extra attention to sophisticated color combinations, micro details and textures.
My artistic grand finale implements shibori dye method and brush painting on felted garments to incarnate a work of art that celebrates the beauty of inner harmony and peace, penetrates one’s deepest senses, and stirs the hearts of both wearer and viewer. I hope you will enjoy wearing my art as much as I enjoy to create it!
