Beautiful wooden homeware products handcrafted in Cornwall
Lumber Lab is the realisation of a lifelong dream to run a woodworking workshop.
Some of my earliest memories are helping my grandad make dollhouses in his shed, and I knew from an early age that I wanted to do a practical job.
I struggled massively at school due to being dyslexic, but had a completely different experience at college where I completed my carpentry apprenticeship while working for a local building company. I actually enjoyed it so much that I stayed on for another year to become advanced qualified!
Over the subsequent years I worked for a few different carpentry and building companies on projects ranging from small extensions to university buildings!
I have always enjoyed creating bespoke items for people - wardrobes that fit in unusual shaped rooms, desks that folded out from cupboards and custom shaped storage in alcoves. It was always a dream to have my own workshop and move away from houses and into making beautiful handcrafted products full time.
I wanted to give someone the opportunity I had to learn a trade and hired my apprentice Luke in 2021. Together we are now working to design and make unique and high quality products for the home and garden.
We are both passionate about the environment and operate in the most eco-friendly way possible. Most of our items are crafted from reclaimed wood which we source locally, and our investment in the latest tools allows us to make full use of each piece of timber so there is minimal waste. To further lessen our impact on the plant we have also partnered with a company to plant one tree for every item sold in our shop.
We love working with timber, but ensure that if the wood we use is not reclaimed, it comes from a sustainable source by working with a supplier who provides us with FSC certified raw materials.
Although we keep a stock of our most popular items, many are made to order, so please check the estimated dispatch time when buying something from the shop. If you would like something that is a bit different from what is listed please feel free to get in touch and we will see if we can help!
