Announcement   Welcome to Pixel&Thread - the home of original stitched creations by designer Rachel Parker.

I'm a textile designer with a passion for colour and pattern. I paint, draw and click around on photoshop, but most of all I stitch! My geometric designs are a contemporary take on embroidery, with references to grids and symbols found within cross stitch patterns.

I'm also a designer for Studio Flock - our range of furnishing fabrics are currently stocked by Liberty, Heal's and Studio Four NYC to name a few.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you find something to fall in love with.

Rachel did an amazing job on my custom piece. She was wonderful to talk with as we brainstormed the best colour options, and even got in some different thread to try out. I'm thrilled with the finished product and can't wait to display it as a moment for our second wedding anniversary. Thanks so much, Rachel!

About

The Story of Pixel&Thread

My earliest memory of textiles is as a child learning to cross stitch, and it's this memory that's influenced my most recent work. There was something about the grids, patterns and ordering of colour that had me hooked! I abandoned cross-stitching as I got older (and cooler, I thought) but found myself drawn back to it in my final year of university. I began to explore the process behind the technique and really deconstruct what it is that I love about it.

For me, cross stitch is repetition and rhythm, symbols and memory. It's graphic design in thread form. I love cross stitch for the same reason that I love pixels, because it's somehow quite reassuring that something giant can be broken down into tiny manageable elements.

After graduating from Norwich University of the Arts in 2012, I was selected by the Embroiderer's Guild to exhibit at the Knitting & Stitching shows as part of their Graduate Showcase at Alexandra Palace, Dublin and Harrogate. I also won the Textile Study Group's Graduate of the Year Award, and first prize in the CAMAC Wallpaper Competition, all of which gave me the boost I needed to launch my career in textiles.

I'm part of Studio Flock, a design collective that gives new designers a creative platform and the chance to have their fabric commercially produced whilst keeping their name to their design, a really rare thing when you're just starting out. My Northmore furnishing fabric is stocked in Liberty, Heal's and Studio Four NYC, to name a few! You can find out more about Flock here: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/FlockStudio

Pixel&Thread is the new online home for my hand stitched artworks, prints, digital fabrics, cushions and greetings cards. Everything you see here is made by me, with a lot of love. Thanks for stopping by, I hope that you'll find something to take home with you!
