Art is life and health!

Hi, I'm Sophie. I live in the wilds of Gloucestershire (UK) with my family and my four enormous white wolves who keep me on my toes and are a constant source of entertainment and inspiration! I've been making art my whole life, since before I could walk apparently! I specialise in drawing and painting in a wide range of mediums and particularly love working in pen & ink, watercolour pencil, oil paints and especially silk paints which I have been in love with for 15 years!

I'm an illustrator for HarperCollins & Penguin Random House and am a shortlisted nominee for the 2018 British Fantasy Award in the Best Artist category! My artisan creations are all handmade with love, care and attention to detail and are inspired by my profound love of nature and wildlife. I adore fantasy, science-fiction and anything magical or mythological, so these are powerful influences in my work. My four furry wolf assistants also provide a lot of art inspiration! I started my art career as a teenager making paintings for family and friends, I progressed to taking on commissions and making art for others. After a Fine Art Degree and a year travelling, I fell into teaching, imparting my love of art and inspiring young children to explore their own creativity. But after 16 years as a full time teacher chronic illness abruptly ended my career but happily brought me back to my first love - art.

The creative arts can be deeply therapeutic. I truly believe that art has the ability to lift our spirits, enthuse and inspire us, nurture and heal us and help us through tough times and even chronic illness. Even when I've been very ill, I've still been able to pick up a paint brush and that has immediately lifted my soul and made me smile.
