Photography, nature and handcrafted frames, created to preserve the feeling of a moment
Mon histoire
My Story
Wildlight Frames grew from a love of photography, nature and the quiet moments that are so easily missed.
For me, photography has never been simply about capturing an image. It is about noticing. The particular way light finds its way through woodland. The shape of a distant landscape. The colours, textures and small details that reveal themselves when you slow down enough to look.
Some moments seem to hold a feeling of their own. A sense of stillness. Wonder. Connection. Sometimes even something that feels quietly sacred.
I wanted to create a way of preserving not only the photograph, but something of the atmosphere that surrounded it.
Each piece begins with the image itself. From there, the frame is thoughtfully hand-crafted and considered as part of the artwork, rather than simply as something to contain it. I look at the colours, textures, character and mood of the photograph and allow those elements to guide the frame, so that the two feel naturally connected.
And occasionally, the story can travel a little further.
Where appropriate, small pieces of natural flora gathered from the world that inspired a photograph may be carefully preserved and incorporated into the presentation. A leaf, seed head, fragment of foliage or another naturally fallen botanical detail can become part of the piece, creating a quiet physical connection between the image and the place from which its inspiration came.
It is a way of bringing a little piece of that moment home.
Occasionally, the story continues on the reverse of the frame. Depending on the piece, I may include details of the location where the photograph was taken, a small map marking the place, a poem I’ve written about the scene, or even an image showing the moment the original photograph was captured.
These personal details offer a glimpse into the journey behind the photograph and give each piece its own sense of place, memory and story. I love the idea that when you turn a Wildlight Frame over, there may be another part of its story waiting to be discovered.
I love the thought that a photograph can become more than an image on a wall. That it can hold a memory, evoke a feeling, or simply invite someone to pause for a few seconds and become present with something beautiful.
Wildlight Frames is, first and foremost, a creative passion. What began through my enjoyment of photography, exploring nature and making things by hand has gradually grown into a collection of pieces that I’m able to share with others.
There is no rush in the process. Each photograph is chosen because something about it spoke to me, and each frame is created with the intention of honouring that feeling.
Nature has a remarkable way of reminding us that beauty doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes it is found in the smallest details, in changing light, in an imperfect leaf, or in a fleeting moment that would otherwise disappear.
Wildlight Frames is my way of slowing those moments down.
Photographs made with feeling. Frames crafted with intention. Nature, preserved as a memory
