We are Stacey and Sam, wife and husband team. We live in our very old end terrace in Greater Manchester with our toddler, two re-homed pugs and three chickens.
We want to make sowing seeds accessible, with a focus on seeds that are appropriate for any growing space you have. From windowsills to allotments, there’ll be something for everyone.
At Window Lovely, our core values are eco-friendly, sustainable and minimal waste. We only use sustainable and eco-friendly products and packaging and the electricity that powers our office (our box room!) is run on 100% renewable electricity.
All of our compost discs are peat free and from sustainable sources. There's a reason peat is so popular in the gardening community - it produces good reliable growing results! However the extraction of peat results in irreversible damage to some of our most important habitats. Recently the demand for peat free compost has increased, and with it much better and higher quality growing mediums, for a reasonable price. Window Lovely and at home in our garden, we only use peat free.
It is our policy to reduce our impact on the environment as much as possible and therefore we put a lot of thought into our packaging. All of the packaging is home compostable. If you don’t have access to a home composter then pop it in your recycling bin after use (but we'd love to see some re-using ideas first!). Our boxes are from Tiny Boxes which share the same ethos. They are made of 100% UK recycled materials and made in the UK. Seed packets are made from sustainably sourced kraft paper and our info cards are printed on recycled paper from a local printer.
We are registered with DEFRA and hold a Seed Marketing Licence from the Animal Plant and Health Agency (APHA) (Ref: 7702).
We launched our subscription boxes in November 2020 and hopefully soon we will be adding boxes for one-off purchase and basic gardening and sowing equipment.
