Bringing you joy whilst doing what I love
Hello and thank you for stopping by!
I’m Chelsea, the maker behind Patchwork Tales.
I have always been a creative person and I fell in love with Textiles when I was in secondary school. I always had the most fun and got myself into the most trouble in those lessons, but I also put more time and effort into my Textiles work than any other subject.
My love for the subject led me to study Fashion Design at university, where my final collection and portfolio was selected to be showcased at London Graduate Fashion Week. This was one of the first times I felt truly proud of myself and my craft.
I am a highly skilled pattern cutter and machinist and pride myself in the quality of my work. I have completed several custom dress making projects and alterations over the last 10 years and I made my first ever keepsake blanket in 2017, for my cousin’s baby.
In 2013 I qualified as a Design Technology teacher, with a specialism in Textiles. I taught students aged 11-18 and, as I do with everything, I threw my heart and soul into it and had some of the best years of my life working with young people in schools. I took a particular interest in special educational needs and this led me to further study and career progression to a NASENCo qualified Special Educational Needs Coordinator.
I have recently left the education sector and am working on my small business full time, so Sometimes Sew should really be Always Sew now, but that’s a conversation for another day!
I never thought I’d have my own business, but 2020 was a crazy year of ups and downs and in December, whilst feeling completely fed up, I decided to just go for it. I started off making keepsake blankets and have since added cushions and taggies to my inventory.
I’m now bringing my love of education and textiles together with a range of sensory toys for babies and children. I have so many ideas in my little head so make sure you favourite my shop and you’ll be notified when I add new products.
If you have got this far, thank you for taking the time out of your day to get to know a bit more about me, I really do appreciate it. Use code THANKU to get 10% off any item in my Etsy shop.
