Hi there! I'm Caroline, the owner, artist, and purple enthusiast!
While I have over a decade of experience in corporate graphic design, video editing, and photography, I'd shied away from personal art for years. I found myself constantly comparing my art and style to "better" artists online, and always hating everything I made. I was frustrated nothing ever turned out how I wanted, and I felt my style didn't fit the scenes I wanted to portray.
In January 2024, I challenged myself to find joy in art again. I wanted to just make things for myself and find love for a hobby I used to do stress-free so long ago. Things were going well. I had made a few pieces I liked, I was comfortable again and enjoying just creating.
Then Red Rising and the Howlers came into my life.
I barreled through the first three books faster than I had any books in YEARS. I found myself inspired by the characters, the world building, and how cinematically the books were written! I found love for reading, and a yearning for drawing these scenes I could so perfectly picture in my head. I attempted my first, and admittedly, it took me a long time. It was a challenging piece, the most difficult I think I had attempted in a long, long time, but I was looking forward to the challenge, instead of dreading it. I spent hours every night after work, drawing it. I was proud.
I finally shared it to the Howler's Den Discord after much convincing by my friend, Alcatraz. The love that flowed in for it, kept me inspired, and encouraged me to keep making more. So I created more, and more, drawing inspiration from scenes, and suggestions from others. I connected with other amazing Red Rising artists, and how loving and encouraging the entire community finally convinced me to open this store.
I can't wait to see where this adventure takes me. Thank you for taking the time to read all this, and for all the love and support, Howlers. I wouldn't be here without you.
