What is the story behind First Generation?

First Generation FG is a fashion brand created to celebrate, educate, and uplift the African diaspora. As a first generation African, founder Janet A. grew up in a time where it was not considered "cool" to be African. Although she was not ashamed of where she came from, she never represented her culture to the extent that she does now.

Its not until she attended a college ASA show in high school that her eyes were opened to representing her culture proudly. For Janet, seeing young Africans represent where they come from so proudly really sparked a joy in her and made her realize why representation matters.

First Generation FG's goal is to continue representing Africans proudly and to remind everyone that we come from a great land! Whether you're African, African-American, or of Caribbean descent, we all come from a land like no other, the beautiful continent of Africa! Through unique graphic illustrations and phrases, First Generation FG apparel delivers African pride at its finest! So JOIN THE MOVEMENT and continue to put on for the culture!
