It's alive.....ALIVE!
Greetings, belles and beasts!
Frankey’s Lab is a small, independently-owned business located in Southeast Georgia. We are a t-shirt and trinket factory with items targeted to the geek and gaming community. The store began as a t-shirt and sign shop called Brand You Designs. We started out doing small jobs for local businesses while we honed our skills. Only a month after opening, we decided to try selling t-shirts at a first-year gaming convention in the area: GnomeCon I.
In the past, we had always come up with phrases and jokes that we thought would make funny t-shirts. The convention was our chance to get our ideas out there and see the reactions of people in the crowd. After receiving a great response, we moved on to other conventions and tailored our ideas to the various themes and genres.
We made it our prime directive to come up with ideas that are original and unique interpretations of the things that we love. In some cases a design will pay homage to a well-known design that has become one of our favorites. But our true passion, the thing that drives us the most to pursue this dream, is knowing that our ideas and products can make people laugh. Even if it is in some small way, bringing joy to others is what drives us to grow and create on an even greater level. This drive, combined with our own collective sense of humor, is what we believe make us unique.
About the Name
Over time we realized that we have our own brand of geekdom that we wanted to share with the hivemind. So we changed our name to Frankey’s Lab; we liked the pun and felt that the laboratory reference was fitting as many of our best-selling products came about as experiments. We also felt that our mascot was a representation of the ways in which we have cobbled together a great adventure out of used bits and pieces.
What We Love
Our loves and interests are perhaps too long to list, but our pasts were certainly influenced by old-school console, PC, and tabletop gaming.
The Process
Each t-shirt designs are made by hand using either heat transfer vinyl (for black shirts) or sublimation (for most color designs). Our shirts don’t just sit around under heat lamps all day; we make them fresh with every order! With the exception of the pocket style, our shirts are Gildan pre-shrunk 100% cotton (black) or 50/50 cotton/poly blend (color). Our dice bags are hand-made and assembled to fit the customer's needs. Not to be left out, our steins, coasters, and other products are also freshly pressed when you place your order.
