I want to help parents teach their children to pray.
I am a newcomer to Protestant prayer beads. I was introduced to them by Kristen Vincent through her book A BEAD AND A PRAYER. Prayer beads have greatly influenced my prayer life. I really wish I had known about them when my children were growing up. What a great tool to teach your children and grand children how to pray. We teach them so much and sometimes forget what is most important. Now you know why this shop was born.
There is no wrong or right way to use prayer beads. They are just a tool to talk to God. With each sale, I will share with you how I use mine; you can choose to do that or develop your own. I believe that it is good for children to have hands on involvement to better understand a God that they cannot see. Using your prayer beads with your children is the best example.
A full set of beads includes 34, 33 beads for the number of years Christ walked the earth, the 34th for his resurrection. Then there are 4 Cruciform beads that form the shape of the cross. Between the cruciform beads are 3, 5, or 7 beads depending on the set the you choose. There is no wrong or right way to use the beads. You may just want to hold them and touch the beads while you pray, or you may want to follow a pattern as you go around the prayer bead circle. I will include a sample of how I use the beads, and some ideas of how you may show your children about prayer beads.
I have a set of small wooden prayer beads for for the elementary age child. Even if a child does one of each thing, thank God for something, says they're sorry for something, prays for a friend or family member and talks to God personally about themselves, great strides have been made. As they get older they will have more to say.
It is 2023, and I have decided to add vintage rosaries to my Prayer Tools shop. I have always been curious about any kind of prayer beads' and rosaries are so pretty to me. I have enjoyed learning all about them. I hope they will be great added tool of prayer.
