Just like my original ponytail holder, for this ring I bought together old and new: a classic medieval shield cut away to reveal futuristic circuit board innards. Ring is hand-crafted using metal clay, which consists of reclaimed silver particles and an organic binder. The piece is then fired in a kiln where the binder burns out leaving a beautiful .999 fine silver ring behind. I then finish it with a patina to highlight the circuits and set a stone in the middle.

Sterling silver contains at least 92.5% of pure Silver (which is why you see the ".925" stamp on Sterling pieces) and 7.5% of another metal. (Usually copper, but sometimes Zinc or Nickel, which is what most people are allergic to when they can't wear Sterling Silver, not the Silver itself.)
Fine Silver contains 99.9% of pure Silver. The higher silver content not only means there is much less of any other type of metal (helping with allergies) but also that it won't tarnish as fast a Sterling Silver.
