The Victorian era was known for feminine ornamentation, lush detail, and happy subjects like flowers, puppies, kittens and children. Rivertown Press & Paperie offers a line of invitation designs inspired by the Victorian era called "Victoriana." ...Now meet her dark sister...Gothica!

Your ceremony is held by candle light. Perhaps your dress is the color of night. Indulge yourself and your guests with this moonlit suite with silver or gold ink on rich black paper.

For invitation closures you can choose to include one of several bellyband designs which can be wax-sealed around the Damask Wrap or Pocketfold. Please specify. Feel free to ask questions!

🌺 ABOUT LETTERPRESS:
Highly individual and sculptural in its results, letterpress printing marks the revival of elegant, social correspondence. It was the predominant form of printing until the 1940s. Today, only a small amount of high-quality art and hobby letterpress printing remain.

Rivertown Press & Paperie captures the delicate beauty and tactile warmth that is so often lost in more modern printing techniques. Letterpress print is done by hand one card at a time. Please understand subtle variations in inking, color, impression, and position are inherent to the process.

Rivertown Press letterpress prints all designs on warm white 1-ply and 2-ply cotton paper using any ink color (up to 3 colors), and also warm black 1-ply matte paper using either silver metallic or gold metallic ink.


🌺 FREE PRICE ESTIMATES
Custom designed/printed invitations are sold by total quantity. Let me know the total number of invitations you are planning to send out (its a good idea to include extras!) and I will send you the price menu that reflects your desired quantity. Keep in mind that the quantity of invitations to order is not the same as the number of people on your guest list. Its the number of HOUSEHOLDS you're sending invitations to (one invitation may be inviting a family of 5).

After you look through the price menu and decide what pieces you would like in your suite, send me your list of desired pieces and quantity, (through the Etsy chat box) and let me prepare a formal quote for you (shipping included). 🙂

🌺 TO PLACE A FULL ORDER FOR THIS DESIGN
Please click on the “Message Barbara" button at the very bottom-right of the page to request a quote. Please communicate what pieces you need in your suite, total quantity and what color ink(s) you desire. I’m happy to answer your questions! 😊

IMPORTANT: When you request your quote, I also need:
• Your wedding date
• the country and state to send your finished product to
• if you need Save-the-Date cards
• and if you plan to use a calligrapher (this impacts shipping dates).

I will let you know these important dates:
• Delivery date
• Date you need to mail your invitations
• Date on your response cards.

After you have communicated your request, I will give you a total cost estimate which will include:
• design
• typesetting
• plates
• letterpress printing labor
• paper
• digital print
• postage for response envelope if needed
• all labor (folding, assembling, stamping, sealing)
• all extras like ribbons and wax
• shipping.

After you review and agree to your project quote, you may proceed by purchasing a deposit listing that I will set up for you. I will post a "Design Deposit" listing in my shop with your name on it for you to purchase. I will send you a link to that listing through the Etsy chat box. The Design Deposit is 50% of the initial total. You purchase the Deposit listing by "Adding to Cart" and being prompted through the transaction process.

✏️ NOTE: By purchasing the DEPOSIT, you are reserving space on my design/print schedule. Your project will be scheduled to print according to your wedding date and my print shop availability. I am regularly managing several projects at a time, so your invitations may be designed right away and scheduled to print a several weeks later.

After the DEPOSIT transaction has been completed, and I can see that the funds have transferred, you can begin sending me your invitation text and other card text through Etsy chat box. I am happy to offer text suggestions. Avoid sending text as image attachments. Spell-check your text. Then I will begin laying out your wedding suite. As I complete the layouts, I will send you screen-shots for proofs as attachments in the chat box. Check your Etsy messages daily for completed proofs that need your attention. Send me an Etsy text explaining any edits to be made or if you're happy with it.

After the project is completed and you have approved the final layouts, you will be asked to purchase a 2nd listing called "CUSTOM ORDER" with your name on it. This is the balance due. (Many times couples request additional pieces to be created during the design process. So the balance due is not necessarily the remaining 50%.) The Custom Order listing needs to be purchased prior to printing.

🌺 DESIGN & TYPOGRAPHY:
Rivertown designs are already finished. Six hours of design edits is included with your purchase, (to adjust typography, frames, and other edits,) plus prepress set-up time.

Because my designs have been carefully crafted with a focus on specific styles, I do not offer font changes. Typography is a complex part of the design as a whole and making changes can take many hours. If you absolutely require a different font than what is offered, I will redesign the pieces in your suite to accommodate the new font at an hourly rate of $50. The final type treatment (size, spacing, kerning, leading, weight, ascenders, descenders, swash caps, and end tails) will be at my discretion.

✏️ NOTE: All pieces are sold in multiples of 25 with a minimum order of 25 sets.

✏️ NOTE: Professional calligraphy not included. Please ask about calligraphy! I am honored to call Minnesota's best calligrapher (awarded by MN Bride magazine for the last 10 years) my friend!

✏️ NOTE on ENVELOPE POSTAGE: Thicker invitation sets and non-flexible envelopes will not go through the automated reader machine at the post office and will require the hand-canceling postage stamp which is an additional .20 cents per piece of mail in the U.S. The postal service will also require you to write "non-machinable" on all the fronts of your envelopes. For this reason, I offer to letterpress a small graphic on the envelopes that reads "please hand cancel." Also expect postal delivery to be extended by 1 day. I am happy to weigh the final assembled invitation and let you know the postage required.

✏️ NEW in 2019: Etsy now automatically adds your local sales tax when you make a purchase. This tax is charged during your transaction and then automatically paid to the government. I do not collect it or count it in my price estimating.


🌺 SHIPPING:
The shipping, packing, and insurance cost for your box of wedding invitations varies from country to country. For areas outside the U.S, it can be as much as $350 (for large, faraway orders).

If you need your wedding invitations shipped sooner, I may need to charge extra for expedited production. Express shipping (faster/further) will need to be collected through Venmo while I'm at the shipping office.

Please check the fees for your country's Customs Tax. This changes from country to country. Customs taxes are not a part of Rivertown Press & Paperie shipping charges.
