Your Pattern site now has a blog

September 20, 2016

Just in time for Blog-tober, all Pattern sites now come with an integrated blog. Blogs are a great way to bring more shoppers to your site, as they help boost your SEO, and give you more ways to create shareable content like pictures, tutorials, and new items. There's another new theme too, which also lends a hand in the sharing department.

In this release

New

  • Blogs: Run your own blog on your Pattern site. Turn it on in the Dashboard, and once you publish your first post the Blog section will appear on your site. Share your story, announce events, post videos of works in progress—there's no end to what you can do.
  • New theme: Pearl. This is the first theme to use your Etsy shop's cover photo, which it pulls into your Pattern site as a banner. Pearl has sticky navigation and social sharing icons, making it easier for visitors to spread the word about your work.

Improved

  • We now have consistent search input fonts
  • We rearranged Style the menu to make it easier and more efficient
  • Shops with long names no longer trail off the page across all themes
  • Better domain verification alerts on the Domains page

Fixed

  • In Safari, the search icon on mobile preview was broken
  • The 'Powered by Etsy' link in preview mode wasn't working
  • When the Instagram logo is clicked in preview mode, the error message wasn't helpful
  • In the 'Contact us' window, you couldn't click the X to remove the relevant listing
  • The Dashboard for Internet Explorer 9 users wasn't playing nicely
  • The Gingham theme had extra space near the footer of the product page
  • When previewing Chiffon in Chrome, clicking on sections produced blank screens
  • On iPad 2s, the theme selector wasn't scrolling
  • A bunch of Brick pages needed some touch-ups
  • In Safari's mobile browser, tapping back to a listing did some weird things to the image
  • Chrome users searching a shop without typing a query saw no results instead of all
  • Google Analytics tracking code text wasn't totally clear
