New features and fixes for the new year!

New year, new theme to highlight your brand! We've also partnered with Disqus to allow visitors to your site to leave comments on your blog posts, so you can easily have conversations with your readers. Also new this month are shipping estimations displayed on listing pages which should help to increase transparency and conversion. New improvements to the Thank You page shown to shoppers after they make a purchase will hopefully keep them coming back for more. We've also been hard at work exterminating some bugs, thanks to you letting us know when they pop up, so keep it up. In this release

New

  • New theme: Zephyr! The first theme to highlight related items from your shop on each product page. Modern and striking, Zephyr also features your cover photo and displays your products in a collage layout similar to our most popular theme, Mosaic.
  • Blog comments: Powered by Disqus, you can now start a conversation with your customers by enabling comments on your Pattern blog posts.
  • Shipping estimations: Your customers can see estimated shipping prices before they add an item to their cart, giving them more transparency into the total cost before beginning the checkout process.
  • SEO Sitemaps: Happening under the hood, Pattern sites now come complete with a sitemap. This gives search engines the information they need to know about what's on your site. Think of it like a table of contents.

Improved

  • Thank You page: When a buyer completes checkout, they'll be brought to a Thank You page where they'll see the option to follow you on social media and, if you have MailChimp enabled, sign up for your email newsletters.
  • 404 page: If a visitor to your site happens to land on a page that doesn't exist (a sold listing, perhaps?!), they will now see other listing recommendations, and hopefully stick around.
  • SSL: Every Pattern site is now fully secure from end to end with an SSL certificate.
  • We've revamped the new user experience so that anyone coming to Pattern for the first time will have more clarity around what's happening.

Fixed

  • Convos from guest buyers weren't always threading, so now you'll see convos from one person displayed in the same thread
  • New Pattern dashboard navigation was breaking the site preview in mobile
  • Publishing a new theme wasn't scrolling back to the top of the themes list
  • One of the links to help content in the Marketing tab of the dashboard was broken
  • Sellers weren't able to view tracking information on guest orders marked as complete
  • Custom Email Address field wasn't validating for invalid characters
  • When guest orders were paid for using PayPal, the receipt email wasn't displaying the method of payment
  • Spacing between blog post page numbers was crunched up
  • There were some dashboard text overlaps happening, that's fixed now
  • Some blog help text was exiting the screen
  • About page text wasn't always translating properly
  • Help text for entering a URL into a blog was corrected
  • Unpublished blog content was disappearing when navigating to other parts of the dashboard, but still showing in the site preview
  • In the Pearl theme, the header was getting pushed down when a banner displayed to site visitors in the EU about cookies was turned on
  • Domains that had been transferred away were still showing up in the Pattern dashboard
  • On certain browsers, images uploaded to the body of a blog post were getting deleted when hover text was present
  • In the Brick theme, there was a slight cropping of the site title when the search bar was open
  • There were some misalignments in the cart in the Brick theme on certain devices
  • In the Brick theme, the cart was not dismissable in the site preview
  • In the Trellis theme, sections weren't always showing all listings
  • In the Chiffon theme, listing pages with long product descriptions weren't always scrolling down all the way
  • In the Chiffon theme, the Contact Us link wasn't showing in the mobile site preview
  • In the Trellis theme, listing images were getting cropped sometimes
  • Listing carousels were glitching out when toggling between mobile and desktop site preview
  • The Chevron theme wasn't resizing when going between mobile and desktop site preview
  • There were some search bar inconsistencies between mobile and web on different themes
  • In the Pearl theme, site sections were duplicating themselves in the navigation bar
  • The Pinterest help link was broken for a bit, now it isn't
  • In the Pearl theme, long site names weren't wrapping in the header, causing them to overlap with other stuff
  • The excerpts for second blog posts weren't publishing correctly
