Bonjour et bienvenue
Un peu de moi et de mon « parcours créatif »... Je crois que j’ai toujours eu un côté créatif pour moi, cependant, comme beaucoup d’entre nous, il a été en hibernation pendant que la vie arrivait. Maintenant que mes enfants ont grandi et vivent pleinement leur vie, mon côté créatif s’est éveillé.
En tant que jeune fille, j’adorais le Spirograph et je me souviens avoir passé des heures interminables à créer des motifs, des motifs et plus de motifs. Je voulais créer un « catalogue » de tous les motifs possibles qui pourraient être créés. Sans surprise, cela ne s’est jamais produit.
J’ai suivi un cours de couture à l’école et j’ai fabriqué mes propres vêtements et ceux de mes enfants jusqu’à leur adolescence, quand ce n’était pas « cool » de porter des vêtements que votre mère fabriquait. J’ai également touché à la broderie à la main et au tricot de temps en temps tout en élevant ma famille.
Il y a environ 15 ans, mes enfants sont maintenant à la fin de leur adolescence et j’ai un peu plus de temps à consacrer à mes activités créatives. Le point de croix a été ma première aventure dans la broderie à la main. J’ai inscrit quelques pièces dans des spectacles et j’ai gagné quelques prix. J’ai rejoint la guilde des brodeurs locaux et j’ai découvert qu’il y avait d’autres types de broderie en plus du point de croix! Wow, il y avait plus à la « broderie » que je ne l’avais jamais pensé et cela m’a ouvert beaucoup de « portes créatives » que je ne savais même pas qu’elles étaient là pour être ouvertes.
Je me suis essayé à plusieurs types de broderie différents et à partir de là, j’ai obtenu un certificat d’enseignement en broderie à la main couvrant une multitude de types de broderie différents. Le côté « organisé » de be était attiré par le point de croix et la broderie au noir – toutes les formes de broderie comptaient. Le patchwork et la courtepointe ont également été abordés dans le cours de formation des enseignants en broderie.
À la fin de ce cours, nous avions la possibilité de nous spécialiser dans un domaine. J’ai choisi de me spécialiser dans le patchwork et le quilting et j’ai obtenu un certificat d’enseignement en patchwork et quilting.
Au cours des dernières années, j’ai également fait Zentangle et Art Journaling avec un soupçon de techniques mixtes. La précision n’est certainement pas une exigence dans ces débouchés créatifs et cela équilibre la précision requise dans le corps des pièces de ma galerie d’art Tangled Line tangledlineart.com.au/tangled-line-art/
J’ai toujours voulu dessiner et j’ai maintenant l’impression d’avoir bouclé la boucle. Mes dessins Tangled Line Art combinent mon amour du spirographe, la précision, le motif et la géométrie du point de croix et de la broderie au noir et la « géométrie » du patchwork et du matelassage.
À partir de maintenant, je peux imaginer plusieurs œuvres d’art basées uniquement sur la géométrie et / ou les motifs de courtepointe. J’envisage également de combiner « tout ce qui précède » dans des œuvres d’art multimédia en temps voulu.
Je crois que la créativité est en chacun de nous. Il attend patiemment que nous le découvrions et lui montrions la voie à suivre. Nous avons juste besoin de croire en nous-mêmes.

Hello and Welcome
A little about me and my ‘creative journey’…. I believe that I have always had a creative side to me, however, like many of us, it has been in hibernation whilst life happened. Now that my children are grown and are living their own full lives, my creative side has awakened.
As a young girl, I loved the Spirograph and can remember spending endless hours creating patterns, patterns and more patterns. I wanted to create a ‘catalogue’ of every possible pattern that could be created.. Not surprisingly, this never happened.
I did a dressmaking course at school and made my own clothes and my children’s clothes up until their teenage years when it wasn’t ‘cool’ to wear clothes that your Mum made. I also dabbled in hand embroidery and knitting on and off while raising my family.
Fast forward to about 15 years ago, my children are now in their late teenage years and I have a bit more time to spend on my creative activities. Cross stitch was my first venture into hand embroidery. I entered a few pieces in shows and won a couple of prizes. I joined the local embroiderer’s guild and found that there were other types of embroidery besides cross stitch! Wow, there was more to ‘embroidery’ than I ever thought and this opened a lot of ‘creative doors’ for me that I didn’t even know were there to be opened.
I tried my hand at several different types of embroidery and from there went on to gain a Teaching Certificate in Hand Embroidery covering a multitude of different embroidery types. The ‘organised’ side of be was drawn to cross stitch and blackwork embroidery – all counted forms of embroidery. Patchwork and Quilting was also covered in the Embroidery Teacher Training Course.
At the completion of that course, we had the option of specialising in one area. I chose to specialise in Patchwork and Quilting and went on to get a Teaching Certificate in Patchwork and Quilting.
In the last few years, I have also been doing Zentangle and Art Journaling with a dash of mixed media. Precision is certainly not a requirement in these creative outlets and this balances the precision required in the body of pieces in my Tangled Line Art Gallery https://tangledlineart.com.au/tangled-line-art/
I have always wanted to draw and I now feel as though I have come full circle. My Tangled Line Art drawings combine my love of the spirograph, the precision, pattern and geometry of cross stitch and blackwork embroidery and the ‘geometry’ of patchwork and quilting.
Fast forward from now, I can envision multiple pieces of art based purely on geometry and/or quilt patterns. I am also looking at combining ‘all of the above’ into multimedia art works in due course.
I believe that creativity is within all of us. It is patiently waiting for us to discover it and show it the way forward. We just need to believe in ourselves.
