THANK YOU.
If you want to make a little doll for your children, or yourself, to experiment with a tried-and-tested pattern and get your feet wet with waldorf-style dollmaking, this is the right pattern for you.
With this pattern you will create a 14" tall (waldorf-style) doll, with simple needle-and-thread sculpted face, stuffed with wool, and also create a soft and fuzzy mohair wig to compliment his or her style.
It is a simplified version of the Little Fig pattern I still use to the day. The pattern has the body proportions of a 3 year old and this hair option makes it an ideal companion for a young child (who doesn't mouth toys anymore).
The pattern requires the following materials, BUT THESE MATERIALS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THIS LISTING, they are stated here only as reference of what you need to buy elsewhere in order to create the doll:
1. Doll skin interlock 14" long by 30" wide (most stores sell you the interlock in a 15" tube, so when you open it up is about 30" wide).
2. Stockinette|dollmaking tubular-gauze 18" long by 3" wide (to construct and sculpt the doll's head).
3. Wool batting (not roving) 8 ounces (stuffing). The final doll weighs around 6.5 ounces (162 grams) with hair so you will have a little bit leftover.
4. Strong craft thread.
5. Embroidery thread in chosen eye and mouth colour.
6. Block of red beeswax (to blush cheeks and knees).
7. Matching sewing thread for body and hair colour.
8. Dollmaking mohair yarn, 1 skein (I used DollyMo brand). Use the 30 gr skeins as you don't need a lot.
As for tools, you will use the following:
Thick metal knitting needle or wooden dowel (for stuffing), hemostats (to turn pieces right side out and help stuffing little parts), felting needles (gauge 36) and a holding tool (the felting needles and tool are not strictly required but recommended); scissors, sewing machine and needles (Universal 7/14 or ballpoint), long and strong dollmaking needles, wide eye blunt needle, soft lead pencil, disappearing fabric marker, embroidery needles, hand-sewing needles, crochet hook 2.75 mm, four knitting stitch markers, pins, measuring tape.
This pattern is designed for a BEGINNER crafter/dollmaker. It consists of 54 pages, with many step-by-step photos + pattern pieces.
THIS PATTERN IS PROVIDED FOR PRIVATE ENJOYMENT AND NOT FOR COMMERCIAL USE.
PLEASE DO NOT SELL ANY DOLLS MADE WITH THIS PATTERN, OR DOLLS MADE WITH MODIFICATIONS TO THIS PATTERN.
