Ich hatte das Privileg, überall in den Vereinigten Staaten und international zu leben. Ich habe mich von der rustikalen Stadtlandschaft Chicagos in die karge und zerklüftete Hochwüste Kaliforniens, die offenen Ebenen von Oklahoma bis zum ikonischen Pazifischen Ozean in Monterey, Kalifornien, gewagt. Ich habe tief im Herzen der amerikanischen Hauptstadt und in der Mordhauptstadt der Welt, El Salvador, gelebt. Ich lebe derzeit in Asunción, Paraguey im Herzen Südamerikas. Überall, wo ich das Privileg hatte zu leben, hat mich verändert und meine künstlerische Vision gestärkt.
Ich habe eine tiefe Ehrfurcht vor jedem Ort, den ich gelebt und erlebt habe. Was ich herausgefunden habe, ist, dass, egal wo ich auf der Welt lebe, in der kargen Hochwüste oder hinter den hohen Betonmauern des gefährlichsten Ortes der Welt, überall Schönheit herrscht. Meine Kunst fängt die diskrete und offensichtliche Schönheit des Alltags ein: die Stoffe, die unsere Körper und Häuser drapieren, die urbane Körnung einer Stadt und die grüne und florale Schönheit, die ihren Weg durch die hohen Mauern des Lebens in El Salvador findet.
I have had the privilege to live all over the United States and internationally. I have ventured from the rustic urban landscape of Chicago to the barren and rugged high desert of California, the open plains of Oklahoma to the iconic Pacific Ocean in Monterey, California. I have lived deep in the heart of the American Capital and in the murder capital of the world, El Salvador. I am currently living in Asunción, Paraguey in the heart of South America. Everywhere I have had the privilege to live has changed me and strengthened my artistic vision.
I have a deep reverence for each place that I have lived and experienced. What I have found is that no matter where I live in the world, the barren high desert or behind the high concrete walls of the most dangerous place in the world, there is beauty all around. My art captures the discrete and obvious beauty of everyday life: the fabrics that drape our bodies and homes, the urban grit of a city, and the green and floral beauty that finds it way through the high walls of living in El Salvador.
