How I Started Spending Too Much Time and Money on Yarn
Hallo! Die Geschichte meiner Häkelreise beginnt im Jahr 2017. Eines Tages räumte ich meine Bastelutensilien aus (ein seltener Anblick) und stieß auf einen alten Wollknäuel. Ich wollte etwas damit machen, das meinen Schrank nicht mit noch mehr unnötigen Pompons füllte. Also googelte ich „Häkeln lernen“ – und war prompt verloren. Ich bat meine Freundin um Hilfe und flehte sie an, mir das Häkeln auf eine Art beizubringen, bei der mein Gehirn nicht spontan explodierte. Sie brachte mir die Grundlagen bei und ich produzierte ein paar krumme, chaotische und mittelmäßige Stücke. Ich erinnere mich, dass eines der ersten Dinge, die ich je gemacht habe, ein Satz Weihnachtsschmuck war – ich weiß genau, dass dieser „Schmuck“ es nie an einen Weihnachtsbaum geschafft hat.
Im Jahr 2020 entdeckte ich Amigurumi. Mein erstes gehäkeltes Stofftier war eine kleine Maus. Ich war so stolz darauf. (Auch wenn es ziemlich hässlich war. Ich habe die Maus immer noch, zusammen mit dem Rest meiner frühesten Kreationen.) Da ich mehr machen wollte, verbrachte ich die nächsten Monate damit, entzückende Tiere und köstliche Desserts zu häkeln und online kostenlose Muster und Tutorials zu finden.
Nach einer Weile beschloss ich, meine eigenen Muster zu entwerfen. Mein erster Versuch war ein einfacher gehäkelter Donut. Irgendwie funktionierte es und ich schaffte es, etwas zu kreieren, das vage einem frittierten Teigklumpen ähnelte. Danach machte ich weiter und entwarf ein Cupcake-Muster und ein Eiscreme-Muster. Ein Muster ging in das nächste über und ehe ich mich versah, verbrachte ich den Großteil meiner Freizeit damit, mir neue Designs auszudenken und sie in die Tat umzusetzen.
Und hier bin ich nun. Ich hoffe, Sie haben genauso viel Spaß beim Erstellen dieser Muster wie ich beim Entwerfen!
Hi there! The story of my crochet journey begins in 2017. One day, I was cleaning out my craft supplies (a rare sight) and came across an old ball of yarn. I wanted to do something with it that wasn’t filling my closet with more unnecessary pom poms. So I googled “how to crochet” — and promptly became lost. I turned to my friend for help, begging her to teach me crochet in a way that didn’t make my brain spontaneously combust. She taught me the basics, and I churned out a few crooked, messy, and mediocre pieces. I remember one of the first things I ever made was a set of Christmas ornaments — I know for a fact that those “ornaments” never made it onto a Christmas tree.
It was in 2020 that I discovered amigurumi. My first crochet stuffed animal was a little mouse. I was so proud of it. (Even though it was quite ugly. I still have the mouse, along with the rest of my earliest makes.) Wanting to make more, I spent the next few months crocheting adorable animals and delicious desserts, finding free patterns and tutorials online.
After a while, I decided to try to make my own patterns. My first attempt was a simple crochet donut. Somehow it worked, and I managed to create something that vaguely resembled a fried blob of dough. From there I went on to make a cupcake pattern and an ice cream pattern. One pattern steamrolled into another, and before I knew it I was spending most of my free time coming up with new designs and crocheting them into existence.
