Ab der Highschool hatte ich eine Leidenschaft zu kreieren und fing an, Perlenschmuck zu kreieren - maßgeschneiderte Stücke für Kunden zu machen und meine eigenen Kreationen zu machen, um sie auf Handwerksmessen und Märkten zu verkaufen. Ich bin jedoch in den letzten sechs Jahren persönlich und durch meine Entwürfe gewachsen. Ich habe die Wertschätzung meiner Mutter für alles Vintage und Antiquitäten nicht verstanden. Unser Haus ist mit antiken Möbeln gefüllt, und obwohl es schön ist, habe ich nie seinen Wert oder seine Bedeutung verstanden. Langsam wurde mir klar, dass alle Möbel, die man bei Target oder IKEA kauft, trendy und aufregend sind... wird aber in der Regel bei normalem Verschleiß über ein paar Jahre auseinanderfallen. Mein Zimmer in unserem Haus hatte immer wackelige TV-Ständer und Tische, aber der Rest des Hauses hatte Massivholztische und -schränke, die es durch Jahrhunderte geschafft hatten und immer noch schön, einzigartig und aufregend waren. Als ich das über Möbel erkannte, erkannte ich schnell die gleichen Dinge über viele andere Aspekte unserer heutigen Verkaufskultur. Eines ist unbestreitbar - die Dinge werden nicht mehr so gemacht, wie sie einmal waren. Warum also mit all den mittelmäßigen und unoriginellen Möbeln / Schmuck / Kunstwerken usw. herumspielen? Ich hätte viel lieber etwas, das niemand sonst hat und das niemals in seiner Gesamtheit nachgebildet werden kann.

Da habe ich meine Berufung gefunden, meine eigene Wendung, das Alte ins Neue zu bringen und es auf eine ganz neue Art und Weise trendy und aufregend zu machen. Seien wir ehrlich - die Geschäfte von heute machen keinen Schmuck mehr wie früher. Strass Schmuck aus der Vergangenheit hat manchmal einige Farbveränderungen, aber zu glauben, dass sich so etwas an einem Stück verändert hat und dass es auf seine Weise immer noch lebendig und atemberaubend ist, ist unbestreitbar. Wenn diese Strassstücke jetzt so gut aussehen können, dann kann ich mir nicht vorstellen, wie erstaunlich sie brandneu waren.

Ich habe den Namen ReDefined für mein Unternehmen gewählt, weil ich nicht versuche, die bereits geleistete Arbeit anzuerkennen. Der Strass Vintage Schmuck wurde wunderschön kreiert und das liegt zu keinem Teil an mir. Ich lerne und gebe dem Kunden so viele Informationen wie möglich über ein Stück, das ich erstelle. Wenn Designer wie Coro oder Sarah Coventry diese Vintage-Elemente gemacht haben, dann gebe ich ihnen Anerkennung. Ich definiere Schmuck neu und mache Broschen und Ohrringe, die heute in ihrer ursprünglichen Absicht nicht so häufig getragen würden, zu etwas Neuem, Schönem und Einzigartigem. Ich nehme Anerkennung dafür, ich nehme Anerkennung dafür, dass ich das, was bereits gemacht wurde, neu definiert habe, es mit anderen Vintage-Elementen kombiniert habe, die sich gegenseitig ergänzen, und ein originelles Stück gemacht habe, von dem Sie sicher sein können, dass es aus etwas besteht, das Bestand haben wird.

Starting in highschool I had a passion to create, and started creating beaded jewelry - doing custom pieces for customers and making my own creations to sell at craft fairs and markets. However, I have grown personally and through my designs in the past six years. I didn't understand my mother's appreciation for everything vintage and antique. Our house is filled with antique furniture, and although its beautiful I never understood its value or importance. Slowly I started to realize that all the furniture you buy at Target or IKEA is trendy and exciting... but will usually fall apart with normal wear and tear over a couple years. My room at our house always had wobbly tv stands and tables, but the rest of the house had solid wood tables and cabinets that had made it through centuries, and was still beautiful, unique and exciting. Once I realized this about furniture I quickly realized the same things about many other aspects of our sales culture today. One thing is undeniable- things aren't made the way they used to be. So why fool around with all the mediocre and unoriginal furniture/jewelry/artwork and etc? I would much rather have something that nobody else has, and that can never be recreated in its entirety.

That's when I found my calling, my own twist to bring the old into the new and make it trendy and exciting in a whole new way. Let's face it - the stores of today do not make jewelry like they used to. Rhinestone jewelry from the past sometimes has some color alterations but to believe that something like that has changed on a piece and that it is still vibrant and stunning in its own way is undeniable. If these rhinestone pieces can look this good now, then I can't imagine how amazing they were brand new.

I chose the name ReDefined for my company because I don't try to take credit for the work that has already been done. The rhinestone vintage jewelry was created beautifully and that is in no part due to me. I learn and provide as much information as I can about a piece I create to the customer. If designers like Coro or Sarah Coventry made these vintage elements then I give them credit. I re-define jewelry, making brooches and earrings that wouldn't be worn that commonly in their original intent today into something new, beautiful and unique. I take credit for that, I take credit for redefining what was already made, pairing it with other vintage elements that compliment each other and making an original piece that you can be sure is made from something that will last.
