Book "Roquebrune in pictures" - old photos of Provence 1970-2000
IN BRIEF:
- Beautiful book of 96 pages, neat finishes
- The real life of a Provencal village through its inhabitants
- Photos and texts of a photographer journalist born in the village, André Abbe
- Book published by an association for the benefit of associations (Passadoc)
THE OPINION OF A CRITIC:
Provence, so many stereotypes and preconceived ideas.
This book takes the opposite view: it immortalizes scenes from the life of the villagers from 1970 to 2000. A difference in size: these photos are taken from the inside, on the spot. The Roquebrunois might have refused to be photographed.
André ABBE is different, André is one of them, born in the village, from an old family of farmers.
Finally, this story is unique: that of a photographer journalist who traveled the world without ever leaving his native village for long.
" The eye of the photographer, the pen of the journalist, the stories of a native of Roquebrune sur Argens. "
THE AUTHOR'S WORD IN ENGLISH:
The color of my slides faded as faded
my memories of this end of the twentieth century. This book of photographs
is a rescue operation.
It is the result of painful choices. I would have preferred to write
legends in Provençal but few readers could have
understand everything.
I had the project to publish a book of "family" photos...
My family is here without being omnipresent...
We are parents more or less closely,
my genealogist friends confirmed it to me, with all the "old" ones
families of Roquebrune, some of their members
will be seen in this book.
THE AUTHOR'S WORD IN PROVENÇAL:

New book by André Abbe, after 6 years of absence.
Images of Roquebrune and its inhabitants, its surroundings, its events, its habits and customs... in short, raw shots without artifice that make the heritage of Provence today (and good memories for some).
