Ma femme et moi étions fatigués de travailler pour d’autres personnes, alors nous avons fait des recherches pour savoir ce qui nous convenait le mieux sur le plan commercial. Nous avons décidé d’ouvrir un café! Cela semblait être une entreprise parfaite pour nous.
Maintenant, la recherche a commencé pour le meilleur emplacement. Nous avons trouvé un magasin à louer à prix raisonnable sur la promenade d’Ocean City NJ. Nous étions tellement excités!
Le nom « Java Jane’s » est vraiment venu par accident. À l’origine, nous allions appeler notre magasin Java Joe’s, nous pensions que nous étions très originaux, mais non, nous ne l’étions pas! Java Joe’s a déjà été pris. Gardez à l’esprit que c’était avant qu’Internet ne soit dans chaque maison, nous avons donc dû envoyer des documents et attendre une réponse par courrier ordinaire. Eh bien, nous avions deux semaines avant notre grande ouverture, alors ma femme a lâché « Java Jane’s ». Cela sonnait bien, alors nous avons soumis les documents à nouveau et espéré que le nom était disponible. C’était le cas!
Ma femme était enceinte de notre premier fils, alors elle a aidé à la conception et à l’aménagement, tandis que je m’occupais de la construction et de la mise en place. J’ai terminé toute la construction et j’ai fait remplir le magasin le jeudi précédant le Memorial Day. Cela allait être notre grand week-end d’ouverture. Notre inspection finale était prévue pour le lendemain, mais l’inspecteur ne s’est jamais présenté! Vers 16h00, j’ai appelé le bureau des inspections de la ville et on m’a dit que l’inspecteur partait en vacances et qu’il serait de retour la semaine prochaine! QUOI! J’ai crié après la personne innocente qui a répondu au téléphone ! J’ai raccroché après lui avoir donné quelques mots de « choix ». Quelques minutes plus tard, je reçois un appel de l’inspecteur, qui m’a dit d’aller de l’avant et d’ouvrir, et il inspecterait le magasin à son retour. C’était au printemps 1999, et Java Jane’s était officiellement né!
Donc, maintenant, nous sommes ici sur Etsy apportant nos produits primés aux masses. Nous avons vraiment travaillé dur pour en arriver là, et je suis fier de ce que nous avons accompli! Du concept à la création, 16 ans plus tard, notre vision s’élargit. Nous sommes encore une fois ravis de créer quelque chose de nouveau, et vous invitons à nous rejoindre!

My wife and I were tired of working for other people, so we did some research to find out what was a good fit for us business wise. We decided to open a coffee shop! It seemed like a perfect business for us.
Now the search began for the best location. We found a reasonably priced store for rent on the Ocean City NJ boardwalk. We were so excited!
The name "Java Jane's " really came by accident. Originally we were going to call our store Java Joe's, we thought that we were very original, but nope, we were not! Java Joe's was taken already. Keep in mind that this was before the internet was in every house, so we had to send in paperwork and wait for an answer through regular mail. Well, we had two weeks until our grand opening, so my wife blurted out "Java Jane's". It had a nice ring to it, so we submitted the paperwork again and hoped the name was available. It was!
My wife was pregnant with our first son, so she helped with the design and layout, while I did all of the building and setting up. I finished all of the construction and had the store completely stocked on the Thursday before Memorial Day. This was going to be our grand opening weekend. Our final inspection was scheduled for the next day, but the inspector never showed up! At around 4:00 I called the city inspections office and I was told that the inspector left for vacation and that he would be back next week! WHAT! I yelled at the innocent person who answered the phone! I hung up after giving her a few "choice" words. A few minutes later, I get a call from the inspector, and he told me to just go ahead and open, and he will inspect the store when he gets back. It was the spring of 1999, and Java Jane's was officially born!
So, now we are here on Etsy bringing our award winning products to the masses. We have really worked hard to get to this point, and I am proud of what we have accomplished! From concept to creation, 16 years later, our vision is expanding. We are once again excited to create something new, and invite you to join us!
