1. Purchasing an Etsy Gift Card
Etsy Gift Cards make a wonderful gift. Etsy Gift Cards can be purchased in designated amounts in certain fixed currencies. Your Etsy Gift Card funds can be added to your account on Etsy.com and used to make purchases from eligible shops on the platform. They are available for purchase directly from Etsy in the following currencies:
- United States Dollars (USD)
- British Pounds (GBP)
- Canadian Dollars (CAD)
- Euro (EUR)
- Australian Dollars (AUD)
- Swiss Francs (CHF)
Etsy Gift Cards are subject to different terms based on when and where they were purchased.
- United States. Etsy Gift Cards issued in United States Dollars (USD) must be purchased with a valid US billing address, and are subject to these Terms of Use for Etsy Gift Cards. Etsy Gift Cards issued in United States Dollars (USD) purchased prior to May 1, 2024 are subject to these Terms of Use for Etsy Gift Cards Issued in United States Dollars.
- Canada. Etsy Gift Cards issued in Canadian Dollars (CAD) must be purchased using a credit or debit card with a valid Canadian billing address and subject to these Terms of Use for Etsy Gift Cards in Canada. Etsy Gift Cards issued prior to March 17, 2025 are subject to these Terms of Use for Etsy Gift Cards Issued in Canadian Dollars.
- Rest of World (ROW). In the UK, Austria, and Switzerland, Gift Cards purchased after March 17, 2025 are subject to these Terms of Use. Gift cards must be purchased using a credit or debit card with a valid billing address in an eligible country. AUD and EUR Gift Cards purchased in other countries besides Austria expire 48 months from the date the Etsy Gift Card is purchased. The expiration date for each Etsy Gift Card is included in the email sent to the recipient. After the expiration date, the recipient will no longer be able to redeem the Etsy Gift Card or use the remaining balance.
When you purchase an Etsy Gift Card, a unique code will be sent to the recipient via email, or you can choose to print the Etsy Gift Card yourself. Click here to learn more about redeeming an Etsy Gift Card. See terms for full details.

2. Receiving an Etsy Credit
From time to time you may be eligible to receive an Etsy Credit as part of a special offer, promotion, or as part of a refund or other payment from Etsy. An Etsy Credit is a promotional credit that can be credited to your Etsy account. Similar to an Etsy Gift Card, an Etsy Credit can only be used to make purchases from eligible shops on Etsy.com or Etsy's mobile apps. An Etsy Credit may also be referred to as an Etsy Bonus Credit or a Promotional Gift Card.
Unless otherwise noted, you may only receive one Etsy Credit per special offer or promotion. Etsy, in its sole discretion, may exclude certain buyers from any special offer or promotion (for example, if it appears a buyer is creating accounts specifically for a promotion).
Etsy Credits will be void where prohibited by law and may not be used on items ineligible for the applicable promotion (such as the purchase of Etsy Gift Cards). Etsy Credits are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Etsy Credits represent a limited right to receive a discount on eligible Etsy.com or Etsy mobile app purchases; they have no cash value, are not redeemable for cash, and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other form of monetary value. If you receive an Etsy Credit as a refund, you are no longer eligible for a refund to your original form of payment.
In addition to this policy, Etsy Credits may be subject to additional offer or promotion-specific terms and conditions, including expiration terms that may be specified at the time of issuance if applicable.
3. Redeeming an Etsy Credit
You may receive your Etsy Credit by email with a unique code or your Etsy Credit may be automatically added to your Etsy Credit balance. Some Etsy Credits may be printed and physically delivered to the recipient. If you receive a unique code, you may either redeem the code by clicking the link in the email (if applicable) or by entering your unique code on Etsy here. Redeeming an Etsy Credit will add its value to your account balance and allow you to pay for orders from participating shops. You must have an existing Etsy account or register a new one to redeem an Etsy Credit.
Once an Etsy Credit code has been redeemed or otherwise added to your Etsy Credit balance, it cannot be returned for cash value or transferred to another account. You may be required to redeem your Etsy Credit by a certain date depending on the specific terms and conditions of the relevant special offer or promotion. If you do not redeem your Etsy Credit prior to that date, your Etsy Credit may expire.
4. Using Your Etsy Credit Balance
Etsy Credits may be applied only to eligible purchases from shops accepting Etsy Payments. To make a purchase with an Etsy Credit, you must be browsing the site or mobile apps in the currency of your Etsy Credit. For example, if you receive an Etsy Credit in EUR, you must have your currency set to EUR. Learn more about setting your account currency here.
At checkout, you have the option to apply your Etsy Credit balance to eligible orders. Your Etsy Credit balance cannot be used to pay an Etsy bill, buy an Etsy Gift Card, or make a purchase from a shop that does not accept Etsy Payments.
If your order total is less than your existing Etsy Credit balance, the remainder of the balance will stay in your account’s Etsy Credit balance to be used for future purchases. If your order total is more than your existing Etsy Credit balance, the remainder of your order total must be paid with another payment method through Etsy Payments.
If you are entitled to a refund, unexpired Etsy Credits will automatically be returned to your Etsy Credit balance for future purchases. Expired Etsy Credits will not be returned to your Etsy Credit balance.
5. Receiving an Etsy Coupon
From time to time you may be eligible to receive an Etsy Coupon as part of a special offer or promotion. Etsy Coupons provide a fixed price reduction or percentage reduction off your purchase at checkout. Etsy Coupons may be issued in currencies of Etsy’s discretion. Unless otherwise noted, you may only receive one Etsy Coupon per special offer or promotion. Etsy, in its sole discretion, may exclude certain buyers from any special offer or promotion (for example, if it appears a buyer is creating accounts specifically for a promotion), or direct special offers or promotions to particular audiences (for example, new buyers, or buyers in a particular market only). Etsy Coupons will be void where prohibited by law or on items ineligible for the applicable promotion (such as the purchase of Etsy Gift Cards). Etsy Coupons are non-refundable and non-transferrable. In addition to this policy, Etsy Coupons may be subject to additional offer or promotion-specific terms and conditions, such as expiration dates, minimum spend requirements, maximum discounts, category/item restrictions, or platform restrictions. The Etsy Coupon may only be used once for up to the maximum discount amount specified. If a maximum discount is specified, any unused difference between the actual discount amount received and the maximum amount will be forfeited. All Etsy Coupons granted through special offers or promotions are also subject to Etsy’s Standard Promotional Terms and Conditions. Etsy Coupons are separate from Shop Coupon Codes. Shop Coupon Codes are managed by individual sellers, who run their own promotions, and may only be applied against orders from the shop that issued the Shop Coupon Code to you. You can read more about Shop Coupon Codes here.
6. Redeeming Your Etsy Coupon
You will receive your Etsy Coupon by email with a unique code. You may not forward your Coupon to any other person; it’s not transferable. Some Etsy Coupons may be printed and physically delivered to the recipient. To redeem your Coupon, simply make a purchase on Etsy from a participating shop (a participating shop is a shop that accepts Etsy Payments - you’ll know whether a shop accepts Etsy Payments by checking the shop’s payment methods) and enter and apply the Coupon code at checkout where indicated before you make your purchase. Unlike Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits, the value of an Etsy Coupon does not get applied to your Etsy account balance. Instead, it gets applied at checkout and used in the applicable purchase order from the participating shop. Redeeming your Etsy Coupon at checkout will deduct its value from the item price (excluding tax and shipping costs) in participating shops. You may only redeem your Coupon in a single transaction, though that transaction may include more than one shop provided that all shops in the transaction accept Etsy Payments. If the price of the item you purchase is less than the Etsy Coupon amount, you will lose the unused Coupon amount. You must have an existing Etsy account or register a new one to redeem an Etsy Coupon and apply it to a purchase. Once an Etsy Coupon has been redeemed, it cannot be returned for cash value. You will normally be required to use your Etsy Coupon by a certain date depending on the specific terms and conditions of the relevant special offer or promotion. If you do not redeem your Etsy Coupon by applying it towards a purchase prior to that date, your Etsy Coupon will expire. Etsy Coupons may be applied only to eligible purchases from shops accepting Etsy Payments. To make a purchase with an Etsy Coupon, you must be browsing the site in the currency of your Etsy Coupon. For example, if you receive an Etsy Coupon in EUR, you must have your currency set to EUR to use your Etsy Coupon towards your purchase from an eligible shop. Learn more about setting your account currency here. Any refund you may be entitled to will not include the Etsy Coupon or its redemption value. You will receive no more than the amount you paid towards your purchase and you will not be eligible for a further Etsy Coupon. Your Etsy Coupon cannot be used to pay an Etsy bill, buy an Etsy Gift Card, or make a purchase from a shop that does not accept Etsy Payments.
7. Accepting an Etsy Gift Card, Etsy Credit, or Etsy Coupon Payment
In order to accept Etsy Gift Cards, Etsy Credits, and Etsy Coupons as a payment method, the shop must be enrolled in Etsy Payments. Learn more about Etsy Payments here. You can learn more about accepting Etsy Gift Cards, Etsy Credits, and Etsy Coupons in this Help article.
8. Shop-Specific Gift Certificates
Shop-Specific Gift Certificates are not permitted on Etsy. You can direct buyers to purchase an Etsy Gift Card that can be used at your shop and any other shop on Etsy that accepts Etsy Payments.
