This carrying bag for (small) dogs could give you the needs for circumstances like these. Light in weight and easily foldable at your convenience, for taking it with you on a daily basis.
Rounded corners at the bottom of the bag provide great support for your dog while the wide shoulder strap will make it comfortable carrying. An inner safety strap is provided to keep your dog from getting out

The bag is made of a durable, good quality 240 grams fleece fabric, which is known for its good isolation properties. It will keep (small) dogs and puppies warm. Washable up to 30 degrees.

Small - For a dog 0 - 2.5 kg (0 - 5.5 lbs)
Medium - For a dog 2.5 - 5 kg (5.5 - 11 lbs)
Large - For a dog 5 - 8 kg (11 - 18 lbs)

When the weight of your dog is "on the edge" you need the bigger size sling.
