Update 3/31/21 - 200 copies of this pattern were originally released to cover Chester’s vet bill (see original story below), and it sold out in 12 hours, raising all the money we needed! Due to continued interest, I released additional copies to benefit the Smoky Mountain Animal Care Foundation, the non-profit that operates the Blount County Animal Center, from which Chester and several other of Janelle’s cats were adopted. 50% of the proceeds from those sales, totaling $1312.50, was raised for SMACF! The fundraiser has now concluded, but I am continuing to make the pattern available due to ongoing interest. Thank you for your support!

The Story of Chester's Place
My sister, Janelle, has always been an animal lover. In recent years, she has directed that love of animals to rescuing senior cats. In August 2020 she rescued Chester, an older orange and white tabby, the namesake of this pattern. He was scrawny, with mange and giardia, weighing less than 5 pounds. The shelter from which she adopted him called him Bones because of how scrawny he was.
After Janelle brought Chester home, he blossomed under her care! He was scared at first, but slowly started to come out of his shell. He gained weight, his coat grew thicker and shinier, and soon he was sitting on Janelle’s lap any chance he got! He absolutely loves pets, sitting on laps, and cuddling with as many animals in the house as will let him.
However, Chester’s poor mouth is in terrible shape. He has stomatitis (essentially an inflammatory immune response to the plaque on his teeth), and at his last vet visit, it was confirmed that he will need all of his teeth pulled. The tooth extraction will cost close to $2000!
In order to help raise money to cover Chester’s vet bill, I created this pattern in his honor, and am donating all of the proceeds of its sale to cover those costs. The pattern features a beautiful red brick house, which I have named Chester’s Place. Chester himself takes center stage at the bottom of the pattern, along with some of Janelle’s other past and current pets, including a horse, guinea pig, dog, cat, chicken, and rabbit.
Your purchase of this pattern will help cover Chester’s vet bill. Thank you so much for your support!
