QUIÉNES SOMOS
Loop by Loop Studio fue fundada por Hayley Perry en 2013. Hayley creció rodeada de enganche de alfombras, gracias a su madre Sharon y su tía Deanne, pero no comenzó a hacer sus propias alfombras y diseños hasta muchos años después. Hayley tiene su educación en Bellas Artes y después de obtener su título de posgrado en pintura en 2011, comenzó a teñir y vender telas en línea, enganchar alfombras y hacer kits, que ha florecido en su carrera a tiempo completo.
Uno de los objetivos de Hayley es ayudar a que el enganche de alfombras llegue a un público más amplio porque entiende los beneficios de reducir la velocidad en este mundo torbellino. Ella cree que las lecciones valiosas se encuentran dentro de este tipo de trabajo manual y alienta a cualquiera que necesite un momento de reflexión a probar esta artesanía fácil y relajante.
POR QUÉ ENGANCHO ALFOMBRAS
Me inclino por el enganche de alfombras porque me permite mezclar técnicas artesanales tradicionales con temas contemporáneos. La capacidad de hacer imágenes con los bucles me hace sentir como si estuviera "pintando con lana", lo que habla de mi amor por la pintura y el dibujo. El proceso táctil de pasar las tiras de lana a través de mis dedos es reconfortante y la repetición o tirar de los bucles es meditativa y catártica.
Me encanta el estilo primitivo de enganche de alfombra: las imágenes son simplificadas y gráficas y se centran en el color y la textura. Tiendo a hacer diseños "contundentes" con mucho contraste, que son los tipos de imágenes que hacen que mi mente se emocione y sea feliz, y eso es lo que más importa, después de todo.
WHO ARE WE
Loop by Loop Studio was founded by Hayley Perry in 2013. Hayley grew up surrounded by rug hooking, thanks to her mother Sharon and aunt Deanne, but did not begin making her own rugs and designs until many years later. Hayley holds her education in Fine Arts and after getting her graduate degree in painting in 2011, she started dyeing and selling fabric online, hooking rugs, and making kits, which has blossomed into her full time career.
One of Hayley's goals is to help rug hooking reach a broader audience because she understands the benefits of slowing down in this whirly world. She believes that valuable lessons lay within this kind of handiwork and encourages anyone who needs a moment of reflection to try out this easy and relaxing craft.
WHY I HOOK RUGS
I gravitate towards rug hooking because it allows me to blend traditional craft techniques with contemporary themes. The ability to make images with the loops makes me feel like I am "painting with wool," which speaks to my love of painting and drawing. The tactile process of thrumming the wool strips through my fingers is comforting and the repetition or pulling loops is meditating and cathartic.
I absolutely love the primitive style of rug hooking - the images are simplified and graphic and focus on color and texture. I tend to make "punchy" designs with a lot of contrast which are the kinds of images make my mind excited and happy, and that is what matters the most, after all.
