A Figment of Fancy
Cosmic Fig Studio began with an ordinary fig.
A friend shared a photo of a deep purple fig dotted with tiny pale specks that reminded me of stars scattered across the night sky. As it turned out, the variety was fittingly called a celestial fig. Another friend remarked that I would look at an ordinary fig and see the cosmos. It's still one of the nicest compliments I've ever received, and the thought stayed with me long enough to become the inspiration for Cosmic Fig Studio.
I've always loved the idea that there's more to the world than what we can see. That a quiet forest might hide the entrance to a fairy realm. I like to believe there's still room for ghosts, magic, mythical creatures, and impossible little things. That even an ordinary fig can hold the entire night sky.
I feel that same sense of wonder when I create. Starting a new project is like opening a door into the unknown. You never quite know what might come through or what shape it will take until it slowly takes form in your art.
Cosmic Fig Studio is where all those little bits of wonder and possibility find their way into the world. Sometimes they're cozy, sometimes spooky, sometimes a little cheeky, but each one is a piece of my imagination brought to life.
I hope something here makes you smile, sparks your imagination, or reminds you that there's still plenty of room for wonder in the world.
