Depuis longtemps, je m’intéresse aux bols chantants, qui ont leurs origines dans la vie quotidienne au Tibet et au Népal, et sont maintenant largement appréciés dans les pratiques de méditation et de relaxation en Occident en raison des tons riches et variés que le métal donne lorsqu’il est frappé avec un maillet doux.

J’ai collectionné de nombreux bols de mon cru, ainsi que trois Feng Gongs spectaculairement beaux, ou Sun Gongs, qui font également une apparition occasionnelle sur les produits VoyagingWithin. En plus de la beauté du son qu’ils produisent, j’ai été frappé encore et encore par la façon dont la lumière joue sur le métal, à la fois dans la lumière naturelle et artificielle.

En plus d’ouvrir l’espace méditatif à travers leurs sons, les bols ont également la capacité de nous amener visuellement à une conscience plus profonde et plus méditative de la beauté de la lumière et de l’espace reflétée dans les objets qui nous entourent. Parce que chaque photographie utilisée est d’un objet artisanal unique, certains des produits présentent également de petites imperfections et imperfections dans le travail du métal, ce qui ajoute authenticité et immédiateté à l’expérience visuelle.

Chacun des bols photographiés pour ces produits est fabriqué à la main selon des méthodes traditionnelles dans des conditions de travail équitables au Népal ou en Inde pour l’Institut Peter Hess en Allemagne, spécialisé dans la production et l’utilisation de bols chantants pour la relaxation, la méditation et le massage.

For a long time now, I have been interested in the Singing Bowls, which have their origins in daily living in Tibet and Nepal, and are now widely enjoyed in meditation and relaxation practices in the West as a result of the rich and varied tones the metal gives when struck with a soft mallet.

I have collected many bowls of my own, as well as three spectacularly beautiful Feng Gongs, or Sun Gongs, which also make an occasional appearance on VoyagingWithin products. As well as the beauty of the sound they make, I have been struck again and again with the way the light plays on the metal, both in natural and artificial light.

As well as opening up meditative space through their sounds, the bowls also have a capacity to bring us visually to a deeper and more meditative awareness of the beauty of light and space reflected in the objects around us. This is what I would like to share with you in the VoyagingWithin products on sale here.

Because each photograph used is of a unique hand-crafted item, some of the products also feature small blemishes and imperfections in the metalwork, which add authenticity and immediacy to the visual experience.

Each of the bowls photographed for these products is hand-crafted according to traditional methods under fair working conditions in Nepal or India for the Peter Hess Institute in Germany, which specialises in producing and using singing bowls for relaxation, meditation and massage.
