It all started because my dog is afraid of thunder!
A couple of years ago, my husband and I noticed that our thunder-anxious dog would hide in our closet during storms. So, we decided to repurpose one of the lower shelves into her very own panic room! My husband set to work making sure it was comfy and lined with sound-dampening foam, while I took on the decor. I ordered 3D wooden letters to spell out her name and hand painted them, which gave me an idea…could I mount these letters to a backboard and create a custom sign? That’s when Rae got Curious.
Over the next several months, I developed my own methods of securely attaching letters to boards. I was making gifts for friends and toying with the idea of starting a shop, but I was hesitant because I’d never done anything like this and wasn’t sure I could be successful. Then a friend said to me, “You just have to be brave enough to start.” I created a logo the next day.
Since then, I’ve loved creating custom orders for folks to decorate their homes with one-of-a-kind pieces that hold special meaning to them. Whether it’s to proudly display their family name, add character to a nursery or kid’s room, or celebrate a business, I’m always thrilled that folks trust me to bring their ideas to life.
